I don't think cleaning thermal paste with a toothbrush was a good idea. You could have used iso-propyl alcohol. That definitely would clean the older thermal paste completely and thermals would have been better. And FPS boost is just because of RAM upgrade as those games are now using more memory than before.

I tried a lot costly thermal paste for laptops.. turns out they suck after applying more temp or less temp for 1 month only. then it will be same thermal throttle again.. Thermal Grizzly Carbonaut thermal pad is better than any one of them for laptops.. no issue of drying as well. temp before (turbo enabled) ideal: 80*C gaming: 97*C - 99*C temp after thermal pad: ideal: 50*C gaming: 90*C u should try this thermal pad. note: others wont work only this brand works. also make sure you buy for pair price which is 1100 rs, some guys even selling it for 4k in which is wrong price.

GPU temp is same, GPU clocks are lower after applying thermal paste, the reason for higher FPS seem to be the higher utilization in the later benchmark. Also I think thermal grizzly takes a few days before it actually reaches its potential.

@@saurajitdas Nope, RAM has nothing to do with rising temps, either he didn't applied it properly or he should use iso-propyl alcohol instead of toothbrush, coz I purchased the same thermal paste properly cleaned and also changed the thermal pads along with thermal paste. The difference was around 10-15 degree drops where CPU temps didn't exceed 78 while before it was touching 95-96

I have a IGP3 and recently i upgraded the RAM to dual channel and the temps while gaming has increased by a good margin. Even doing the basic tasks made the base temps go slightly higher. I have a R5 4600H in my laptop. Possible scenario could be the higher performance due to dual channel config. There's a 20% boost in R23 and geekbench scores after the upgrage. And also the 10% boost in temps. Lol. Also there is a possibility that the temps of the new RAM module near CPU adding up to the overall higher package temps. Hope this helps.

Good video . here are fe opinions : 1. use alcohol to clean , even when your cpu looks clean to eyes , there is a lot of theremal paste there. If you clean it with alcohol and cloth , you would habe seen black spots on your cloth, do multiple rubs to clean it properly. 2. your cpu temp is high which means either your fans aren't good enough or cooling plate is not tight enough , tight it as much as screw allows . not able to cool 22w cpu + 55w gpu ? something is not right. 3. your performance gain is from ram, 8gb is good for nothing . upgrading it to 16gb is giving performance boost. 4. Those tapes are i guess are vrm thermal pads and not for saving electric shorting. try : 1. open backplate and run benchmark. see if it helps. 2. tight screws as much as possible. 3. reduce gpu power using msi afterburner.

Thremal paste has nothing to do with cooling its chemical composition is only to conduct heat.. it helps as a bridge to the dia and heat sink, as direct contact of both will not give a even distribution.

@@HighAltitudeEnjoyer It does effect the temperature if there is less or insufficient thermal paste applied, but almost all OEM's i have worked with over apply thermal paste as seen in this video the paste was over flowing out of the Dia on to the PCB before cleaing it with brush, in that case it does not make any difference in before and after temparture which can be seen on the video itself. And some OEM's use thermal epoxy which is glue and if you try to take it out your CPU/GPU will rip off from the board itself, so that disclaimer needs to be given or else some of the viewers will be distroying their laptops for making it cooler.

Can you do more tests with thermal paste on different laptops? I had a asus tuf 504 with 1060 and i applied thermal paste and cleaned the air vents and i started getting min 45 and max 80 temperature, before i use to get 95 most of the time. I don't know if thermal helped or cleaning the vents.

I own the 2020 model pavilion (i7-10750H + GDDR6 1650) and yeah out of the box it doesn’t overheat but a few months later it starts hitting the 90’s and sooner or later will stay most of the time between 90’s and 100C. So, First of all I recommend repasting with thermal grizzly kryonaut. Second, undervolting the cpu. Last advice is to use a good cooling pad (specially one that fits the fans vents of your laptop). If those advices are taken, believe me, the laptop will run way cooler. My temps now are for the gpu max 76C. And 82 max for cpu. That’s a big improvement.

I upgraded RAM as shown in this video. Some days after upgrading RAM, i started to face huge FPS drops for 20-30 secs. During the FPS drop, the CPU temperature goes from 99 to 80 degrees and CPU usage goes from 25% to 90% and GPU usage went from 70 to 20. I decided to change thermal paste, no change as such. Even cleaned the heat sink.

use electric contact cleaner and isopropyl alcohol. for complete cleaning of fans esp if they are not working well u need to open them up. need a precision screwdriver kit for that. then u can clean everything. contact cleaner can be sprayed on electronics and evaporates completely leaving no residue. also some q tip, alcohol swabs are good to have.

You should not spread the thermal paste their may be some air bubbles left due to which there is not much temperature difference,you should use dot method,line method or cross method (only for gpu) . I also changed my laptops thermal paste and before temperature goes to 96 max, 95 average and after applying same karynout thermal paste temp are 84max , 76average.

actually the air bubbles are a myth. it was disproven by debauer himself who works at kryonaut and helped make the paste. that is why u get a spreader with most thermal pastes (with kryonaut as well) just need to spread it extremely thin but yea i use dot and rice method too

Thermal paste definitely helps In Acer Nitro 5 2019 model Ryzen 3550H AMD Radeon RX560X 4GB Graphic card In games with very low settings without thermal paste temperatures were 91°C And game was also laggy with 30-40 fps with 720p resolution But with thermal paste In 1080p resolution game easily run in 60fps With 68°C temperature Nice 😃 Thermal paste used - arctic mx 4

Ig u applied thermal paste the wrong way, I had same hp pavilion with 1650, and I used same thermal paste. My temps in RDR 2 dropped form 95 to 80, FC5 dropped from 95 to 87, tomb raider from 85 to 70. In stress test temps were same as before(95) but processor consumed more power after applying thermal paste, earlier avg tdp was 35W, after thermal paste avg tdp was 46W Changed my paste 2 weeks ago.

After adding 8GB additional Ram total (8+8) =16 GB Ram dual channel and 500GB ssd (nvme) , can get the better gaming performance because after gaming about 1 hour gaming getting lagging all the time . But my question is what is the difference between Acer original 8GB 2666htz Ram which is about 4500 to 5000 and crucial 8GB Ram 2666htz which is about 3000 to 3500 ???

Not a big difference bro. Crucial ram performance will be 3 to 5 % lesser. But it will be value for money

Great sir maza aa gai. Maine apna acer aspire e5 574g 6 year old 940m gpu Wala clean kiya bahut jada dust thi overheat hota tha magar ab bahut kam temperature ho gae. Thanks alot. Thermal paste se apke me koi anter nahi hua to mere 940m and 15watt ka cpu vaise bhi jada power nahi leta hai to usne thermal paste se kuch nahi hoga.

Thermal paste lagate time purana wala isopropyl alcohol se saaf karna hota hai, warna jo thoda bahot residue reh jaata hai, wo naye paste ke saath pange kar sakta hai. Also it looked like you had applied too much paste. Jab desktop CPU ke liye lagte hai forrun wale ytbers tab bolte hai pea-sized amount. Ab laptop cpu ka die itna chota hai toh usse bhi kam lagna chahiye. Gamers nexus naam ka ek channel hai. Uska ekdum tagda wala video hai ispe. Cheggit out!

It seems like the improvement in performance is likely due to the switch from single-channel to dual-channel memory configuration. When you were using a single 8GB stick previously, that was in single-channel mode. Now, with the upgrade to 16GB in dual-channel, you're getting better performance. As for GTA 5, it's not an overly demanding game when it comes to RAM; 8GB should be more than sufficient for it. 👍

bro i have the exact same laptop bought it 2 weeks ago I noticed that my gpu usage in games like apex legends and cod warzone was pretty low around 60 to 70percent and in valorant I was just getting 100fps on the lowest settings which is not expected of r5 4600h and gtx 1650ti do u think that upgrading the ram from 8gb to 12gb will fix low gpu usage? and shud I return it if adding ram does not work btw I never touch 60fps on warzone with 720p low settngs and no bg apps in background and all optimizations done power plan control panel etc.

I bought the same ram from description link in from Amazon. There was a reviews that people getting fake crucial ram. Not sure mine is real or not but packaging etc same as shown in video I also found 30% performance boost after upgrading.
