Why in the world are we listening to two unsynced variometers?? I skipped through the whole thing. Couldn't take it. This, and the handheld second-person view make for rough videos. Just a little feedback. Overall I really like Flybubble videos and appreciate that you guys are putting out the most paragliding content that I've seen!

@@Hemersonr thanks for the suggestion. problem is this would add even more time to the editing job, meaning fewer videos. we try to follow the 80/20 rule, this way pilots get the most benefit overall.

Vario's a side it's a good talk. Watching and flying with other pilots is a great thing to learn in climbs. I'm a solo pilot myself and would love to team fly and use info off other pilots. Found it really cool how fast other wings joined in after your first few turns! Interested in knowing more about other people joining your circle. I would assume the pilot you're joining has the right to the lift on the first few turns. Then it becomes a dance and you work off each other to maximize your climb. Or is it every pilot for themselves and the right of way rules? Fun video as always, thanks for flying with a camera in your hand for us KZbinr's!!!!
@Paintbing15 жыл бұрын
Yeah, first thing I noticed was how quickly the other pilots joined in. I was in Colombia this year and it's really the best way to get far. Gotta watch everybody around you and get to the active thermal quickly. As for the rules/etiquette, thermal rules apply. First one in sets the turn. Faster climbers have right of way, and most importantly, don't be "that guy" aka a bull in a china shop. I'll admit I've turned super tight in front of others on a rare occasion, but only because not doing so would result in a circle that is so wide with 4-5 pilots that nobody can go anywhere. It shows where the core is and others can fall back in right below.

I have the vario sound turned off, one reason is that it comes a second or two too late. Without the sound I feel thermals better as my focus is on the surroundings and entire body feel.

So...what your saying is turn when the beeps increase and keep turning so they keep beeping?
@carlcolorado35495 жыл бұрын
Vario has a slight delay. You'll feel the stronger lift before the vario beeps, so you need to go more on feel. The vario is to let you know you're still climbing. Your inside brake is going to give you a lot more information on strong and week lift inside the thermal. Stronger lift is going to pull on your brake like you caught a fish with a fishing pole. When the brake line pulls you pull to tighten up on the thermal. If the inside brake goes loose then you know you just feel out of the stronger bit and need to find it again. Concentrate on feel not so much the vario and you'll have better success rates.

Icaro2000. I have the old Icaro Fly model, which I'm very happy with. They replaced this with the Icaro Nerv - flybubble.com/icaro-nerv . I'm still waiting for my old Fly helmet and visor to need replacing so I have a good excuse to change to the Nerv but even after many and years and hours of use it's still fine.
