Hi there,
Another Matx case, this time from Thermaltake. If this is the standard all their cases are then I've been missing a trick. Yes, this is my first case from them and I really like it.
Today, we take a look at the case, do a build and then finally I give my thoughts.
Buy from Scan.co.uk other suppliers are available :-)

@@WayneWebbFilms Any estimate on how much the build was in total? I've just bought a Titan X Pascal and I wanted to do a similar type build
@WayneWebbFilms
@WayneWebbFilms 3 жыл бұрын
Here is a rough estimate, just depends on what changes you're after CPU 350 Mobo 150 Ram 60-120 (depends whether 16/32gb) Storage 100 (this would be for a 500gb SSD and 2tb HDD) Cooler 120 (take your pick) PSU 100 (prices are high atm) Then there are fans etc If you go Ryzen ie 3600 and a B550 mobo you can probably knock £150 off. Then it's just up to you as to what parts you want or good, better, best. My build was probably £1600 if going by new prices

@@WayneWebbFilms Haha what a coincidence I was looking at getting a Ryzen 5 3600 and a AsRock B550-M for my build Also, sorry for all the questions, my GPU does not have an IO shield, is this a problem for mounting?

It would be nice if they'd manufacture this in a mid-tower case. At the moment, it appears you only have a choice between the micro and full ATX (T600 I think). My current build is in a full tower with a mATX mainboard. I'd like to go a bit smaller than the full tower on a new build but with a full ATX mainboard (due to the adds).

Thanks, that was helpful. Many cases now seem to have minimal space for drives. Probably assuming one will mostly use M.2's. In my case I have 2 2.5" SSD's and a 3.5" HDD coming over from my old PC, so I was pleased to see it was able to hold 2 traditional hard drives. Though it may be time to upgrade my 4TB HDD to an SSD now that prices have dropped.

The chasis I have right now is the Phanteks Shift (and I ABSOLUTELY love it)... but the thermals are not great. Being a gaming pc with a pretty large GPU, and living in Northern California where summers reach 115 F, this is a problem. But this case looks AMAZING. I came here to find out if that outer shell was also metal like I thought, so thanks for pointing that out when you gave your impressions!

I saw the case in a local seller at a pretty decent price, I always wanted the Cougar Conquer but it's a little bit over my budget for a case, this one was a Wow... Guess I'll wait a few more years until I get a swap. The glass panels creep me out I just imagine myself breaking them so I had to view a build and review. Thanks for the Vid.

I usually like the stuff Thermaltake make but this one kind of looks off to me. The front kind of looks like a mix of a spaceship and a welding helmet. Also feels like it will be a dust magnet with all the openings, not to mention all the stuff that could fall in to the case.
@ResetXPDR
@ResetXPDR 3 жыл бұрын
Great review! How did you find the noise levels compared to a similar system in a closed case? It looks like it would be a bit noiser at a given fan speed because it is open, but the fans shouldn't spool up as much, and hence be quieter, as inside the case doesn't get as warm under load because it is open. ie. the openness both hinders and helps with noise?
@WayneWebbFilms
@WayneWebbFilms 3 жыл бұрын
It's not something I measured, but a valid question. I did notice that my aio was ramping which was a little annoying, but that's down to a software issue having to use Armoury Crate. I think the best way would be to set a consistent fan curve ie around 50% where the noise is at an acceptable level. The GPU was a few degrees warmer than with the NZXT H400i I did last week, but the RX6800 is a warm card and performs best with good airflow, the front AIO inhibits any potential. Overall I would say it's about the same, you have less fans than a typical case but it's open...there wouldn't be a great deal in it

Awesome review, just wondering though, what do you think of the airflow overall compared to another case? Does it have good cooling potential?
@WayneWebbFilms
@WayneWebbFilms 2 жыл бұрын
I feel it is a bit of a gimmick case on reflection. Good cooling potential but normal airflow isn't a thing due to the open nature of things. Front mounting the AIO gives the CPU a good chance to stay cool and you could probably help things with fans in the top. Hope this helps

Hi, if you mean the tubes at the bottom...it's one of the ways to do it and if you have the tube length and it looks good, then go for it. Otherwise the tubes at the top is perfectly acceptable. The problem you have is when the pump is the highest point in the loop and air gets trapped inside. This won't happen in this case/situation, but appreciate your input.

@WayneWebbFilms
@WayneWebbFilms 2 жыл бұрын
The case only supports itx and m-atx and I believe the Tomahawk is ATX, so won't fit unfortunately. Your choice of parts and any overclocks will really determine the heat produced. Airflow isn't a thing as such because it is partially open, but temps were fine from what I remember

I don't know tbh, I'd need to refer to the manufacturer website. When it comes to thermals, it's more about airflow than proximity to other components. I think that an FE card wouldn't do its best work in this kind of case, but I haven't tried so it's just an assumption.
