No, sorry to say but CaCo3 in water is not exothermic as CaCo3 is quite stable, it's lattice energy is very high so i doesn't break into its constituents ions.

Sir why formation of calcium carbonate is not an enthalpy of formation??can you please answer this....please make video on this
@learningskillsbyrohitraut4533
@learningskillsbyrohitraut4533 2 жыл бұрын
Enthalpy of formation of CaCo3 is the energy released when one mole of CaCo3 is formed from most stable form of of Carbon, calcium and oxygen but actually CaCo3 is formed from Cao and Co2 so in this case energy released will be different.

Sir i have doubt ... U said that enthalpy means heat change at constant temperature and pressure.... But here temperature is changing... And one thing more in thermodynamics we use sign convention as energy released negative and energy absorb positive but here u use reverse.... Please reply sir....

I think For ex:- in case of ∆latticeH As energy is given by the solvent to solute to break it's lattice structure that means energy is lost from the solvent so -ve (with respect to solvent) but at the same time energy is absorbed by the solute so +ve(with respect to solute)

@chemistrymaderousing-bytus2100

POSITIVE COLD NEGATIVE HOT.. as exo (delta H < 0) releases heat making container (thermodynamic surrounding) hot.. and endo (delta H >0)cold as it absorbs heat from surrounding..

Sir, adding water to acid is exothermic reaction and since only enthalpy of Hydration is present, the enthalpy of solution is +ve. But we know, that for exothermic reaction the enthalpy of the reaction is -ve as heat is released by the system. Where does the contradiction lie then? Please Answer Sir.

Point of view and reference.
@learningskillsbyrohitraut4533
@learningskillsbyrohitraut4533 2 жыл бұрын
+ve sign indicates energy is absorbed and -ve sign shows energy is released. To break crystal energy has to supply so lattice energy is +ve and once dissociated into ions due to ion dipole interaction energy is released so hydration energy is -ve . sum of this two energy is called called solution enthalpy if this comes out to be +ve, it is endothermic otherwise exothermic.

Well explained sir but let me tell u my query When Sulphuric acid is added to water doesn't we say There will be more enrgy comes out Bcz of Enthalpy of neutralisation which is somewhere more than Enthalpy change of Hydration? Actually i am confused with Neutralisation and Hydration Hope u will surely help me asap
@pushkarnegi4274

Sir when suphuric acid added to water heat is evolved due to hydration only. When sulphuric acid added to a base then heat is evolve due to neutralisation. Which enthalpy is more it depends on various factors i
