So fun filming this. So happy to be able to get over to Florence during our "pandemic break". And yes, Turino was the first capital of Italy... my mistake! Turnio, Florence, and then Rome!

Torino, Firenze and Roma. you don't see Italians calling New York "Nuova York".

Each time I travel to Italy, I have to pass to Florence. I adore Florence. Nothing like Florence with its Art Heritage, the beautiful old street, and the joy of walking all day in its streets

Nice! I just left there last week. Uffizi in the morning was EMPTY! Saw Caravaggio, Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, and Botticelli all to myself.

The interruption screen that kept popping up towards the end was challenging. The flashing of the screen and noise was difficult. Please remove that from future videos. Otherwise, it was a great video

There is only one place in the world where everyday life is so completely reflected in the sublime, in a wonderful mix of nature and culture........it is Tuscany. Marie-Henri Beyle, Stendhal

So the recommended hotel, Brunelleschi, is 700 euros a night while the St Regis is only 800 euros. Makes no sense. Negates everything in the video.

FWIW, Lorenzo the Magnificent (Il Magnifico) did not live in Pitti Palace. That was the palace of the grand dukes of Tuscany (in the 1500s+). Lorenzo lived in Palazzo Medici-Riccardi which his grandfather Cosimo the Elder (Il Vechio) had built. Cosimo the Elder is the one who multiplied the wealth created by his own father via the Medici bank and became the richest man in Europe. The grand dukes came from a minor branch of the Medici family and took power decades after Lorenzo died. The biggest patrons of the renaissance were Cosimo the Elder and Lorenzo the Magnificent (in the 1400s) as they supported Donatello, Brunelleschi, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo and many more. The 1400s Medici are far more interesting to me than the grand dukes although they too were big patrons of the arts and science. They all achieved great things but I really have a fascination for the 1400s Medici :).

Lorenzo the great in the Boboli Gardens? Impossible. He died in 1492. The Boboli Gardens were made for Eleonora di Toledo, the wife of Cosimo I de Medici around 1536.

One thing about your videos that helps me a lot is the pointers on the map each time you’re about to explain the place. Since I am a map person who has to see the entire area in terms of the four corners, I’m saving your videos for the later watch to help me plan a trip to Italy later in the year.
