Well, this is just the Intro to Afternoon Tea 101 ! You've whetted our appetite for all the steps you have listed. Also maybe a coffee service alone? 🌹 I have read in etiquette books that the sliced lemon (never wedges) should be served on a small glass or crystal plate. Makes sense. Indeed, older glass companies produced special lemon plates, about 7 inches.

www.ebay.com/itm/264994017686?hash=item3db2dfd196:g:5oQAAOSwja5e4iU1 Lemon plates weren't all yellow, I just chose this one. Would have been part of a glass suite with sugar bowl and cream jug, teacups, saucers, tea plates, sweet dishes, candlesticks, and more. Made by an American fine glass company, one of several and some still in existence. England has pottery clay, but the U. S. has glass and crystal. Do look up "ABP" glass - American Brilliant Period - which rivals Waterford crystal.

Oh, if you could, would you go over the proper use of tennis sets? I have a small collection of Royal Albert Tennis sets that I’d love to use for an afternoon low tea open house. Would they be proper to use? What type of napkin should be used with them? Oh, what are the dimensions of the napkin you used on today’s video? Lastly, how differently is a low tea with only finger foods served? Please, please continue with your tea series. In our chaotic times, it brings blessed moments of serenity. Thank you!

From an American with Scottish blood flowing through every artery - your presentations, lessons, and chats are most appreciated, very timely and also excellent as the years roll along. First I wanted to ask if you are well, and slowly recovering from the loss to the world of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II? Having worked with the Royal family you are even more affected than those of us, looking in, watching and admiring the family. Time and reflection of the special memories you will always have, will in time heal your wounds. I had a suggestion for you - should you wish?? I bought a large sheet of plastic coated on one side in felt to protect my dining table (about 4 inches larger all the way around) and for the kitchen table; turned the outer edge under approximately 2 inches, then ran elastic through that channel, so the protector hugs the table, does not shift and nothing, like priceless crystal, will topple over. Thank you for your expertise and willingness to teach us to have the best Royal life possible. ka

Lovely advice and exactly how to lay a table for tea. A beautiful table is a gift and compliment for one's guests. Who, when welcomed to a beautiful table, does not have their spirits lifted? The Fab Four Florida Labs suggest a small sweets dish that should contain biscuits for the enjoyment of the canine guests to be enjoyed at the farthest corner of the garden or lawn.

I am hosting Ladies Tea Party on July 10 in my home with 7 guests. We will be seated at my dining table and I will use my silver tea service. I plan to serve the tea, while standing from the side buffet, as I think the silver tea service on its large tray would not work well on the table. Do I ask each guest how they want their tea (with sugar or milk) or do I have the sugar and milk on the table and let the guests add what they want? Do I have one tray for each sandwich and scones or do I use multiple trays around the table for the sweets and savory items for the ease of my guests? As an American I am curious to know if it is proper, or necessary, or a terrible idea to have a water glass for each guest as well? I love your videos and thank you for your advice.

Firstly, thanks for all of the time you have put in to sharing your knowlege. Secondly, I would like to see how to present and serve them like Holly Eggart wrote in the comments. Often times videos show how to set the table, but I never see how to actually use things in real time. Who passes to whom? Does every one reach in for themselves? I know it seem obvious, but it really isn't, especially once the table starts to get larger. If I don't have a butler am I getting up each time to bring in a dish (since there is only a napkin on the table)?
