Wow the freaking difference is night and day! I love the sub kick!!!

0:55 you are using a non polarized speaker so it doesn't really have a polarity ,,, the - & + marks are just to make them be in phase if you are playing back stereo
@MrDinger245 жыл бұрын
If you check the XLR cable you will see they are numbered = 2 is positive and 3 is negative, the loose wires that are unsheathed is the cable earth, you should sheath that and earth the cable Also you should use some amalgamating tape on the end of the cable you have unsheathed this will keep it sealed and prevents short circuits as well as the possibility of that annoying earth crack you often get with poor insulated cables

Awesome. Thanks for the extra info John. Hopefully it'll help others. I wrapped the cable after filming so it's nice and secure!

What mic are you using for your kick? 🤯
@ourvoice75 жыл бұрын
Ive been hearing others using guitar amp speakers, etc, and to me it seems like using that sub speaker really makes a difference in terms of the sound. I would like to see this compared to a regular cabinet speaker.

I made my subkick with a 10 inch subwoofer. The kick sound way lower compared yo a guitar amp Speaker
@TheRozzaB5 жыл бұрын
I think a sub speaker will have a bit more low end, just like Tomas has said! Probably as they're more in tune to deal with the lower frequencies! I'd love to see a comparison but I don't want to tear my amp apart! haha!

@@TheRozzaB maybe you can buy a mid-range Speaker on ebay for a couple of bucks and try it. I tried a Speaker from a guitar amp of one of my friends and it sounds like a regular microphone

I just tried it with a sub, got lots of lows! I am very happy with the results

@@ourvoice7 yes man, really happy to hear that! Enjoy!

Great tutorial! Concise and direct, and the point on reverse polarity is made clear. Also the only example I’ve seen with a subkick and without a resonant head. What cone is this? Size? 4ohm or 8ohm?
@TheRozzaB2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brendan! I don't have the sub kick on me as its in storage but I think it was a 6 inch cone and 8ohm? Basically most will work in a similar fashion and give a similar sound. 👍

Hi! I have a question, what about putting the subkick inside the kick drum? Inside and near the reso head, would be work? Thanks
@TheRozzaB3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you could do that but it might clip quite easily doing this. I'd reccommend keeping it outside the bass drum facing the reso

I prefer just the mic personally but well worth trying for the outlay!

Hi. What kind of speaker is this? I want to get the same one.
@TheRozzaB3 жыл бұрын
It's just an old speaker (6inch I think??). It was part of the sub of an old hi fi system so I'm sure you could pick one up cheap!
@Nivej81804 жыл бұрын
What size is your speaker?
@TheRozzaB4 жыл бұрын
I think it was a 6inch speaker 👍

It’s an XLR cable I know, but “we’re going to assume the red is positive, white is negative” tells me you should seek help from someone with more experience.

I left a comment on what I found after some research and some experimenting about no need to worry about which way the wires are connected if you care to read it.
