Mostly because that's a false statement. You don't see speedrunners getting good RNG by being skillful. Luck literally means random, meaning you have zero influence of the outcome. So his logic of turning on items in a tournament to "even the playing field" means he's only trying to protect his image by making skill completely worthless.

Tbh this game came with a lot of wii consoles, it was kind of like 1-2 switch in the way that it was solely there to show off what the console can do. (The Wii U had one too called Nintendo Land)
