The biggest issue with that strat is that after a while, the Boos get smart, & run from you whenever you spray ice, forcing you to shoot ice with the most awkward angles.

Ehh, I did a rank A all Gold paintings run of this game a few weeks ago and I would say Bogmire is harder. The amount of shadows you can run into is insane, Boolossus meanwhile I did in 3 phases. Definitely not as hard, but I could see someone that is new to the game having issues. The main issue is Tim isn't aiming his ice blasts correctly/not really focusing on using it.

I’m liking this playthrough, but really, there should be some spots cut out. We don’t need to see several failed attempts at Golden Mice. The “it’s getting edited out anyway” comment from Jon should have tipped the editor off about the last episode. Don’t get me wrong, I like TheRunawayGuys, but I also like seeing decent progress per video. I was surprised they didn’t fight Boolossus last time.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying the series, but i when it's a 15-20 minute video every other day, we don't need to see content that really doesn't add anything. It'd be one thing if Emile and Jon were having a decent discussion during it, but they aren't really so it's content that could just be cut.

xman0444 Exactly. Look, I get it’s a blind playthrough, so it’s gonna be slower than usual and I have to accept that, even if the pace can be kinda sluggish sometimes. Tim apparently defended Chugga for that sort of thing during Link to the Past in a comment (I didn’t watch all of that series, just lost interest as I’m not the biggest Zelda fan in the world). But there’s a difference between figuring something like a puzzle out and waiting for RNG to like you. Speedy Spirit attempts aren’t that bad though, because they can be kinda fun to watch. But when it’s this repetitive with the Golden Mice I have issues.

To Tim's credit, I've never seen someone (almost) win this fight without ever "manually" dragging Boolossus to a horn. It was pretty cool to see that even in its smallest form, the boss can still simply be tricked into stabbing itself on the statues. That being said, my memory tells me that you should be able to have up to 24 Boos at this point, but if I'm right, then I honestly have no idea where the 3 that have been missed are supposed to be.

Good first try with Boolossus but I don't know what's worse, Tim having a noticeable habit of ignoring the advice he gets when it comes to combat or Emile's constant back seating and then saying: "It's his playthrough, he can do what he wants." I can at least chalk Tim's up to trial and error getting the hang of things for a first timer which is perfectly fine in a blind playthrough but Emile's attitude is coming off as unpleasant.

1:00 And yet the passive-aggressive backseat directing here from Past Emile is real. I feel like that happens more often than not though. At least that’s how it’s been with me and every rare fish currently available in New Horizons short of the Stringfish (which I did end up baiting to get instead of happening on it), the Coelacanth, and the Barreleye (neither of which have shown up for me once, though I did have the conditions for the former on my first island tour and foolishly didn’t take advantage of that). Just naturally happened upon the two Sturgeons and four Oarfish I’ve caught and ever since I’ve been trying to look for them to grind up money they’ve not shown up once. 5:30 Little too early for that Tim. With how much back seating Emile was doing, I’m surprised he didn’t tell Tim to go get water and water all the outdoor plants here. Maybe when he’s heading for Area 4. 7:15 I was expecting him to pop earlier, but Tim’s at least produced results. Generally ghosts are known to have a chilling presence, so what happens when you’re in the midst of a huge ghost? Past Tim’s really good at getting Boolossus to pop himself. 9:00 I never noticed it before, probably because when I play I’m so focused on the gameplay, but the Boo Radar’s still going off even though you don’t see the Game Boo Horror. 11:00 Man, Tim’s just going to go this whole fight without knowing that you could pull Boolossus with the Poltergust into the horns. 13:33 Ooh, so close. Seriously Emile? That’s the takeaway? Take a leaf from Elsa’s book and let it go. E. Gadd’s never had any qualms with sending Luigi off to his doom I’ve noticed.

Yeah, the thing is Chugga has OCD, he's said so himself. Most of the time he acknowledges it for laughs, but it's quite obvious here that Tim missing out on a golden mouse or speedy spirit gives him that itch.

So Emile is actually wrong about the Boolosus fight. You can suck up each Boo without using the ice element, it is just really difficult because of how fast they move and how the others would attack you while sucking up their friends. Only reason I know is because I never noticed the ice elements when I fought and just spent hours trying to suck up each Boo one by one

The optimal speed run strat is to pop Boolossus then to vacuum backwards toward the other statue. all the boos will come towards you and you do a single ice burst and freeze them all. Then suck away. It's super hard to get them all at once but it is a big time save.

This LP's certainly one that exists. Could've benefitted from more editing as has been said to death, although later LPs like Overcooked improve this significantly, and as I've seen mentioned Tim didn't seem to get certain elements of the game. I can't exactly blame him for that, I think the half-but-not-entirely-correct advice is in part at fault, I think if Tim went into the game alone he'd probably have figured out what to do a bit better, at the expense of probably missing some secrets Emile told him about. Well, this was probably from over a year ago and this LP went up like 4, 5 months ago so whatever, but serious comments are probably more enjoyable to get randomly notified of if that's something that happens.

The best way to fight Boolossus is to pop him, then hold the vacuum and run to the other side. Once you get to the other statue, start holding ice down all the way, and all the boos will be clumped together. It's possible to one cycle him this way, but it's very difficult. At the very least you can get all the way down to about 3.

While I don't know what determines whether Boolossus immediately escapes the suction (I think it's how close he is when you suck) you can actually hold him with the vacuum and carry him into the unicorn statues to pop him. This is the first time I've ever seen the strategy of letting him pop himself.

Honestly, Boolossus got me stuck for years as a kid. I always died after such a drawnout fight and would stop playing. And then I beat him 2 weeks easily with a broken controller where I had one controller that couldn't use L and one that could that had a broken joystick (switched b/w whole game but Boolossus is the only time sensitive baddie where it's a true issue)

Ah, Boolossus, easily the hardest boss ghost in the whole game. He, along with Sir Weston, is one of two ghosts I can never get gold on. Best I've done is silver. It's a really frustrating boss battle to say the least. In fact, Boolossus feels more like the final boss instead of King Boo himself.

I hope it got pointed out in the last video but talk of the headhunter ghost started because of him being mentioned in Nintendo Power. It wasn't something a random viewer made up and whoever blamed Chugga for spreading the rumor was misinformed. Unfortunately that little blurb about the ghost in the magazine is all the general public has been able to find of him; no design or anything.

I can vouge for Tim that boss is stupid annoying sometimes with it being technically 3 phases. Phase 1: Boos being easy to catch Phase 2: Boos start dodging after certain amount are caught and start attacking when split Phase 3: 1 Boo left meaning it can't turn into Boolossus and it being the most dodgy from what I can tell

At that rate, I'd say there's 4 phases, with Phase 3 being smallest Boolossus, & 4 being your Phase 3.

I HATED that last Boo. He was so frustrating to catch due to how he always fled from you and could even go outside the arena! On a side note: Where are you even supposed to be when you fight the game's bosses?

I had a similar moment where I died to the last boo. I was doing a full one session playthrough cause I didn't have a cartridge and just rage quit after the death

Warning: The entirety of this post is dedicated to a rant about how awful & jank Boolossus is. If you do not care about rants about the game, feel free to skip past this. 1. Starting of the bat, Boolossus has an issue: potential crashes. If from when you start the file to triggering the fight, you take exactly 20 damage(regardless of whether or not you heal), the game crashes during the fade-to-white transition. 2. Immediately after the fight starts, another issue is presented: starting locations. Both of the previous bosses started Luigi at the bottom of the arena, & the boss at the top. Yet for some reason, Boolossus flips that around. If you don't react fast enough, that's -20 health from the get-go. 3. Boolossus has 1 singular mechanic that makes him terrifying: acceleration. The longer you let him dash in a straight line, the faster he gets, & the more likely he slams into you, costing another 20 health. 4. Remember when Emile mentioned you could alter between shooting an element & spraying it? Well, that backfires in this fight. The game can sometimes get constantly confused between both whenever you hold down L, which can outright "lock-up" the Poltergust. 5. After a few cycles, the Boos will start to divebomb you. This wouldn't be an issue if there was almost 0 tell to when they do it. This gets worse when there's less than 4 Boos, because the camera zooms in, which means they can attack you 100% from off screen.

@@juanmeza5646 Because its one of those "so bad you actually get angry" parts of the game. In my 2nd run of the game, Boolossus & King Boo were probably 90% of my resets for gold-frames.

The first ghostbusters has like, 2 good things going for it (marshmallow man, proton packs...maybe), mostly just reeks of nerdy sexist men wish fulfillment. I got a bit lucky going after gold rank boolossus. 1 try. You can't take more than 10 damage which means don't get hit by big boo and look out for the little ones. You can take like 2 or 3 small hits.
