Freightliner, nice tractor, lots of cab room, as for the coolant level, the Cascadia I drove was always on the low mark (or close to it), tried to top it off a couple times and it always found it's way back down to the Low Mark, I checked for leaks, none, so I just left it, never an issue after that but I did keep an eye on it just the same. When you see that much Duck Tape used around the tractor like that TRC, you can be pretty certain the driver before you was a Jerry-Rigger and a warning sign to go through that whole truck with a fine toothed comb (front to back) and take pictures. It's called cover your butt-method. Nice trip, thanks for the video. :)

What engine do you have? I'm a fleet mechanic and we use mainly frieghtliners with the dd15. With the minimum coolant issues, we found the hose clamps be the thermostat housing always needs tightening every BPM. They wont leak coolant until the system builds pressure from heat, then it'll slowly steam out and difficult to find. But all you need is an 8 mm to tighten the clamps and good to go. Other than that, the plastic coolant line coming off the thermostat housing going to air compressor also leaks where it clamps to the intake brackets. If its metal, then they already replaced it. Otherwise, with a fleet of a few thousand Frieghtliners...very reliable and all the drivers prefer them over the kenworths, peterbilts, or internationals. We never had volvos though.

The most likely source for coolant loss is the filler cap. The seal gets compressed, looses pressure and coolant. Love your videos.

My paccar from brand new drinks coolant from time to time there’s no leaks it just drinks it and I have 238k on it and not one mechanical issue had come up yet

I really liked the new cascadia. I was in a 2019 for a while. But mine had all that safety junk on it, lane departure, adaptive cruise ect. You are exactly right. It was beeping like none stop, drove me nuts. Interior and dash on them are very nice. The only thing I didn't like, the fuel and def gage.

Drove over the road for 9 years; 53' reefer going to grocery warehouses, nurseries and meat packers throughout the U.S. In those years I drove Freightliners, Internationals, Western Stars and Volvos. All the trucks I drove never let me down on the road except the Western Stars. I had two of them throughout the years and both were underpowered, unreliable and a misery to drive. I am sure I will get flamed out here on KZbin but that was my experience. They were beautiful trucks but that does not pay the bills. Life on the road is frustrating enough without the truck contributing to that frustration. The Volvo is my choice for the most comfortable and reliable in my experience.

I have massive respect for truckers. Driving a big rig was the most fun I've had in 2020 (went to a CDL school in Colorado but decided not to pursue a career in trucking) they had us training in manual transmission trucks and considering I had all of about 5 minutes of seat time in a manual transmission car in my life I did really well, instructors even said so. Love the vids, keep on trucking and watch out for idiots 😁

Hey Rusty. So I used rainx in my window wash tank for a long time. Got some ceremic auto coating for paint and windows. Works great, lasts a long time not matter how many washes I do. Also switched to blue window wash fluid. The ceremic coating I used is called Shine Armour. Turtle wax also now sells ceremic spray.

I’m not saying this is your issue, but I recently had the same issue with coolant “disappearing”. I kept getting “water in fuel” messages on a 2015 Kenworth T800HH. If I drained the water-fuel separator, the error went away - for a while. It turned out to be leaking around a couple injectors. Cummins ISX 550.

Hey, Rusty - don't beat yourself up about the diet. You can - kind of - get back on track by keeping the carbs down - potatoes, noodles and bread - the thing about the carbs is - that you CAN enjoy them from time to time because the negative parts are gone from your system in about 12 hours - so - a couple times a week with the carbs doesn't get you - just back away from them - most of the time.

You can replace the coolant, with Engine Ice coolant, then your Truck runs colder about 8c,and performs much better, i did it on my vette. 🇺🇸👍

Not sure if it works on the cascadia, but if you push your indicator stock up or down without locking it, it blinks a few times and then it turns off. Handy if you wanna overtake someone. (You might already know this)

The Cascadia seems to be way more user friendly and well thought out. Especially the seat. I would rather go a little slower in a vehicle and have cooled and ventilated seats than a seat you sweat your ass off but can go 5 MPH faster. You seem happier in it, too.

If you think coolant is getting into the engine, take an oil sample. It will tell if any coolant is in with the oil as well as any metal breakdown. Very inexpensive way of analyzing the condition of your engine. Also, I like the Volvo. I thought you can turn off some of the automatics(?)

I keep hearing the hood mirrors on the Cascadia are mounted too low and you have to jack the seat way up to see them. Is this true? It kinda looks that way from the video but hard to tell.

I have never had Rainx in that yellow container. Always used the original black small one. But I've never ever had a problem back then. Maybe they changed the formula. I've always put the product on with a clean cloth on a cleaned windshield, then forgot about it. And when it rained or even sleet or snow I never had a problem. Swear by it however their anti-fog product is a different story.

Sorry I’m late, Rusty, life decisions distracting me 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ but I’m here now!!! Annnnddd .... man, I will only miss the Western Star because she just looked so good!!! But I did feel and understand the frustrations with the limitations she possessed ... the biggest being the lack of ports for accessories!!! Even one more would have made life so much easier on the road!!! Then, I had thought about the cup holder situation, but was just caught up in her overall beauty to really appreciate the inconvenience of the location. And that also makes a big difference in “life on the road”!! Not to mention the space!!! I REALLY hope the folks that build the WS’s are taking notes and making necessary improvements for future models, because these few issues really are important!!! She was definitely lacking in a “top of the line” model!!! And woah!!!! Why didn’t you ever tell us about the attempt on your life?!?!?!? Thank God your okay!!! You know we can handle the good with the bad!!! I just love all of your videos!!! And I appreciate everything that you do to bring us all the amazing and “Real” 😉 content that you do!!! I just started driving. My trainer had a '17 freightliner auto. 400hp. Hated the thing. Wouldn't haul for crap lol so I asked them not to put me in an auto when I get out on my own. They gave me a 2018 international manual. 430hp. It's a love hate relationship. It dont have near as many "safety features" as my trainers truck and itll actually go when I want it to. Somewhat lol and our trucks are governed at 65 which sucks. But anyway, hope to see u out on the road sometime
