Axel Al pioneered that process in 78 as I remember it, popular up n down SR-99 & I-5 Wheeler Ridge to Sacramento or Bay area, when I learned of him was bout 4-500 to cut burn off, lateh out housing, insert new spindle, supply seals, bearings, last I heard for for same, depending on Axel size is bout 14-1600 on road, safe to say 4k+ is 2k outta bounds, it's all they did, was call Axel Al and add couple Grand to ya, shop worker doesn't have a clue bout torque, as demonstrated by the time he spent on just one lug nut, based on that observation, we can imagine the torque on bearings is much to tight, only due to everything being new including lube oil, is only reason you made Onterio. I might add for future reference, gage rpms , speed in relation with weight will give you an indication of a problems, especially after an hours drive your fuel consumption rises. Sorry to hear your discouragement in the industry, you'll surly find, any industry or profession, suffer occupational failures due logistics or equipment, from office copy machine, laboratory electraspectrogram, to running outta jet fuel while braking to avoid a missal on your tail. Enjoyed the only few broadcast you put out, having recently discovered your location, kinda hope you regain some interest and remain a bit longer, you have what employers desire, as new to the industry, you demonstrated enough fear to respect hazardous driving conditions, even more courage to complete the required task before you, folks wrongly console to wait it out for safety, in most situations it's best to head the safe precaution, however what if it storms a week, there's scheduling to consider, skillful confidence is only gained with experience, I was impressed with your audible self warning, giving way to courage. In respect to your final decision wishing all the best for life. Excuse the length of a three cent comment, from a heavy wrecker operator.

Did you check the oil level in the hub during your pre trip? The fact that there are no leak s doesn't mean everything is ok. ALWAYS CHECK THE OIL LEVEL IN THE HUB ASSEMBLY. I personally remove the rubber caps and put my finger inside if I cannot see the level with my eyes through the little window, unless its a sealed lubricated hub assembly that I cannot get into which is very common.

Truly enjoy your videos. I like your comments while driving with the inside view . I really hope you continue to drive awhile longer . Consider your self lucky at your young age making the money you do . I'm 73 y/o and drove COE's in the 70's and 80's without any GPS's or Cell Phones ! You had to rely on another truck or a State Trooper stopping and helping you out. Breakdowns are a big PIA but you brush them off and continue on ! I was lucky and the last company I drove for I ran teams but we had a brand new Ford CL 9000 with air ride suspension , 13 spd , 500 HP Cummins(I think) and was actually a pretty comfortable ride for a COE ! I loved the job but got out of it after 7 years cause I had kids under the age of 8 and I saw them very little each week ! Good luck !
