Good god I don't think there's ever been a more awesome (and terrifying) depiction of the K/Pg extinction event. WWD had a somber but harrowing feel, but this is all action, minus the ejecta in those shots of the earth from space. They really went all out with this first episode.

Imagine what would have actually been like to even witness the true event. Nigel probably should've been deaf by the sound of the collision alone, and then watching that enormous cloud grew bigger... sheesh, I've seen loads of depictions of the meteorite strike, but this one, and the one from Disney's Dinosaur, are my favourites.

And why wasn't Prehistoric Park itself wiped out by the blast wave passing through the time portal?

@@GCarty80 maybe it closed right as the cloud passed over? I dunno, tv logic 😂 good point tho!

Because the portal generator pillars were destroyed nigh-instantaneously by the blast wave as it made contact with them? Maybe. I'm just guessing :-)

The soundtrack that plays during this scene is eerie, terrifying and anxiety inducing. It just tells you that something very big is about to happen. It's like the time has finally come for judgement to be passed. It's a very ominous and scary feeling that i can't explain. And then you look back at the Dinosaurs, who you have spent so much time with looking at how they grow up, live and lead their life. No matter if it's an adult or baby, you just hope for them to survive somehow but they just don't. It's a feeling that runs very deep. Like almost being sorry for them. It's the end of an era. Something that cannot be changed but had to happen in order for us Humans to evolve.
@sachinraghavan45563 ай бұрын
Humans evolving is disastrous for the planet though and the pain we inflict on animals is unimaginable. It wouldn't be a bad thing if we never evolved. Yes I agree this is pretty scary though.

According to a couple of quick calculations I made (According to this documentary) the Kpg explosion would have been equal to nearly 90million megatons of TNT (90000000000000 tons) this would make it nearly 2 million times more powerful than the Tsar bomba and around 112,500 times more powerful than the Mount Tambora Eruption (That being said different estimates place the explosion at a smaller size so it's hard to know for sure) Just imagine what it would be like to witness that...

Perhaps Nigel could make future trips to rescue them from extinction. It annoyed me in episode 6 that Nigel never even tried to bring back a herd of Parasaurolophus to the present day. While he can't save every species from extinction, if there's an opening to do so, he should take it.

Parasaurolphus lived in the Campanian part of the Cretaceous period while the episode where Nigel Rescues Terrence Matilda Theo and the ornithomimus took place during the Maastrichtian meaning parasaurolophus would’ve been extinct by the time this episode takes place Edit: yes Quetzalcoatlus did become extinct from the mass extinction event but it wasn’t just that pterosaur It was Theo’s entire herd and triceratops species along with Terrence and Matilda’s pack and species pretty much Theo Terrence and Matilda were the last of their kind when they were brought to the 21st century Other species died out as well…like Dakotaraptor Archeoraptor Torosaurus Triceratops Prorsus Mossasaurus Plesiosaurs etc Edit: at least the orinithomimus had a sorta breeding population

How did mammals survived this?
@prehistoricanimations9228 ай бұрын
Not every mammal or bird survived this mass extinction, small animals with ground-dwelling or burrowing habits were more likely to survive than those who depended on trees to survive (the only exception being the earliest primates who managed to survive), and in the case of birds or avialans, ground or sea-dwelling birds survived as well to diversify into modern birds.
