Everyone's allergic to that PPD what is that I know it's in darker hate dyes and henna hair dye but it's gotta be kinda rare of an allergy because I only just heard of this and I watch a lot of hair dying videos 🤷

They must be changing the ingredients in hair dye. I've died my hair starting at 13 and I'm now 41. It didn't start until 2013 when I had the worse allergic reaction with hives from dying my hair. I tried it again when my son graduated from high school in 2014, my face swole up so big and the doctor told me if I do it again I might kill my self with my throat closing up. Needless to say, it's been 6 years and I'm going gray and I don't dye my hair and almost can't wear colored wigs or colored extensions hair or it will irritate my skin. Oh yeah, it messed up my skin so bad I can't use ANYTHING with fragrance in it or my skin will break out in hives... So bath and body works...no.....perfume on my body..no....body washes and oils and lotions that are not 100% natural...no. It sucks!!!

I agree after my allergic reaction I started getting really itchy hands and then found out not only am I allergic to PPD I’m allergic to gold and pretty much all soaps
@BellaJory13 жыл бұрын
This is how allergies work. They build up. You can use the same product for years and suddenly develop an allergy to it. It doesn’t mean they’ve changed the ingredients. Its the same as people who suddenly get allergic to peanuts in their 30’s. I’m really sorry that happened to you, must’ve been really scary!

It was Sally’s One’N’Only Argan Hair Oil. It used to have a different look to it, but I guess they changed packaging.

Hi Laura, i am suffering its been 9month today, i ve lost my Hair and have a Painful SCALP and my face swole up big too.. i took steroid isolone for that but now i can see that you recommend a medecine that can help with the Pain, irritation, swellin.. after 9 MONTH if its worth it to have another medecine and what type of Steroid you took ? please i need your answer , thank you

I went to the emergency room they prescribed me a steroid and Benadryl idk what they were called. Also if you’re having more frequent allergies you should see a specialist and they can give you more options along with a dermatologist to help with your scalp. Check and make sure your not using anything with PPD and use shampoos that have more natural ingredients. I wish I could help more, but it’s important you see someone.

Ikr! I like my natural dark hair but EVERY month if not less I have to carefully touch up my greys thinking about going back to blonde or atleast a dark gray that looks trendy and not old. Gray toners don’t have a lot off ppd because it’s mostly a gloss

This is happening to me right now. I just dyed my hair black like 3 days ago and have been taking Benadryl and using a cold compress on it all day but my face and forehead were so swollen, they are slightly less swollen now but every time I take the cold compress away it swells like crazy again. I’m not sure if I should go to the ER or just keep on with the benadryl and compresses. I’m getting hives all over my face, neck, and ears too. I’ve never had an allergic reaction to this hair dye before and my hairdresser has used the same brand on me for years. I heard that PPD can be more concentrated in black and darker hair dyes so since this is my first time going this dark I am wondering if that was the cause. This video is definitely helping me keep calm. Especially seeing all of the comments saying that they recovered just fine in a few days and how chill you are being about it all. Hopefully it just calms down and I won’t have to go to the ER, it hasn’t gotten significantly worse or gone to my eyes like it did to you so I’m gonna wait and see what happens. Thanks for posting this though! Definitely not using that black hair dye anymore. I am glad you have fully recovered though!🤗
@Loveablelaura3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t go to the ER just go to your regular doctor they can give you a steroid shot and it takes down the swelling significantly. And I think I took Benadryl every 6 hours. And In the future if you want to color your hair chi and Sulky (I think is the brand) both make PPD free hair color. I still color my hair and as long as it’s PPD free I’m fine

Till I got to ER, Benadryl, it’s the only allergy medicine you can take every 4 hours. The Doctor gave me a higher grade Benadryl and a steroid shot and still recommend I keep taking Benadryl every four hours along with steroid pills I had to take for four days also every four hours. It was miserable 😩

@Loveablelaura3 жыл бұрын
Depends on how allergic you are that’s why you should always do a patch test if you’re unsure. I know I’m allergic so now I do foils that way it’s off the scalp and in something that I know won’t touch my scalp.

@Loveablelaura4 жыл бұрын
Luckily no, it was a slow reaction that lasted over 24hours and it was a contact allergy. I think only food allergies mess with airways. Because when I told the nurse I was worried about my breathing she just asked if I ate anything and I said no and then she said I had nothing to worry about. If the fumes from the hair dye would have been stronger maybe then but I was in an open area.

No it’s your hair dye. I have the same reaction. Not quite as bad as yours but still bad enough to be weird and grotesque looking my forehead is swollen. Pretty bad. It looks really disturbing. I’m using ice. to bring the swelling down. I’m also gonna try some real aloe vera this is BS hair color should not do this to your body
@Loveablelaura5 ай бұрын
I agree, but I took a Contact allergy patch test and PPD Was the chemical that makes me react this bad. I can bleach and use color and toners that don't have PPD, but still the chemicals flare up my eczema and burns my scalp. So the mix of the two made me react this badly.
