A little history on the paint scheme on this Mustang. The H in GT-H stands for Hertz. Back in the day Hertz had a great idea called Rent-a-Racer. You could rent the higher end GT350-H Mustangs from Hertz for $17 per day and 17 cents per mile if you belonged to one of Hertz's Clubs. The gold stripes were a Hertz exclusive. This program was cancelled because Hertz had to put out way too much in repair costs because people would rent them, bring them to race tracks for the weekend and trash the hell out of them. There were also reports of some base model Mustang owners renting the GT350-H and spending the weekend swapping motors and transmissions and returning the rentals with the cheaper engines. The original GT350-Hs go for over $150,000 and are highly collectible.

Have you built the 66 h code? I was actually doing well w/ it, everything going mostly to plan. And then the decals happened. basically they went translucent as soon as they hit paint. I could have pulled off painting the stripes, but nowhere near the skill to do the gt lettering.

Superb work as ever Tom. That clear is as smooth as glass. Car looks incredible. Wheels being chrome look possibly ever so slightly too shiny, might have looked better very very slightly duller. But doesn't detract from the overall appearance of the car. Thank you for all your videos, tips, techniques and replies, man. Happy new year to you and yours, looking forward to seeing what other builds you'll be doing next year.

I really enjoy your time you put in these cars. I don't know if you ever did a video or not but i would be interested on how you have these displayed. Also do you know where I can find die cast metal models. I get more satisfaction when I complete one of those but i cant find any. been searching for years.

:) love your builds. Fantastic paint choices. Could you display them the same way at the end of your videos. It looks more professional than on the blue pad.
