Both are denarii of Antoninus Pius. The reverse of the one you weren't sure of is a modius holding a poppy and grain ears, the other one is Tranquillitas standing.
@davidlathrop9360 Жыл бұрын
Better yet, the Tranquilitas coin is better dated by the fact it has the information that he was holding tribunician power for the 15th time, and consular power for the fourth. that dates it to 151-152 AD, according to Numista.

That aluminum piece with the flat end and long shaft( appears to be broken off) resembles a heavy duty tent peg. The "heart" shape piece may be a metal boot heel protector. I saw one side appeared smoother and perhaps worn from contact with the ground. I really enjoy the unusual finds you recover. Even in Canada I've found a rare Livery button from London England. One of my favorite finds.

That gold chunk that you thought could be plastic, is actually a piece of "kickstrip" Rory putting on your carpet at the threshold of a room. I have found loads of them, they are always little chunks, they have grooves and a section is always angled. They get the heart going, they do.

The rings for tying down tarps are called “grommets .” Love the history you share.
@Afro408 Жыл бұрын
Are you sure? Down here we call the eyelets. I thought‘grommets’ were circular plugs in metal panels, as used in some car bodies for closing drain or access holes. Or they are a circular rubber guard that is fitted to the hole in the engine firewall, to protect electrical wires to pass through. But they could be both, or either. 🤷♂️😁 I guess it depends on where you live.
@aprilleighallred8546 Жыл бұрын
Via: Websters Dictionary American plural noun: grommets an eyelet placed in a hole in a sheet or panel to protect or insulate a rope or cable passed through it or to prevent the sheet or panel from being torn.

Love the Roman coins and The quick Tour. Will be Subscribing as soon as your Done Guiding, to your Tour site. Thanx everso much. I visited Hadrians wall at about 12yrs of Age. Dad loved Scotland as a Royal Marine he spent around 5yrs up in Scapa..! 1941-46. He was also Born in 1922..! He Loved the Countryside, the People and always Said I was "Made in Scotland, born in West Ham..!" Generally followed with 'Almost a Scot..!' My First Name was IAIN, sadly for Gender issues, I am now Kim. But he always Said Don't let the School Drop that Extra 'I' in ya Name. In London at school they were always Spelling it wrong. "So Called F***ing Teachers" he would Curse. My middle name was Kim, so I Changed it when I Changed. Not before giving him a Grandchild, mind..! Great Video, Great Finds & a Tour too..! Thank you, hope you don't mind my 'KIND' Tagging Along..! I am still a History loving Numismatic, Hole Digging nutter..! Just Living Downunder and Missing your kind of History, not many Denarii in the Ground Down here..!! Cheers John & All from Downunder..! 🦘🦘

A few quick things... In the US we call the tarpaulin hole protectors grommets. The second thing... For people worrying about it, softly brushing a coin to knock off dirt will not do any damage worse than laying in the ground for hundreds of years already has done. Dug coins, unless spectacularly rare or gold ones, are not worth much as collector coins to begin with, as they're graded as having been dug, and detectorists rarely sell their finds... Also, I'm loving your videos and quite enjoying living vicariously, detecting through all those "fields of Perthshire" while it's way too dang hot and dry here to be out detecting in Oklahoma! One other thing, I think we're probably distant cousins, I am of Scottish extraction, my brother and I are very tall too, and have "bendy thumbs" just like yours lol... Keep up the good work John!

The first thing you found is called a grommet. The little tag thing I believe is a keyhole cover for a padlock. That is the "Isle of Man" symbol but I don't know what the thing is. The heart thing is part of a small padlock. Do you get to keep gold and silver coins you find or are they considered treasure? I have found U.S. pennies only a couple years old that were almost completely disintegrated. They sure don't make them like they used to. The last park that I hunted I found 28 aluminum pop tops and nothing else so I gave up. At least you found some pennies and such. I believe the rectangle thing might be a shim. Congratulations on the Roman silver coins and the 23k subs🎉

John, great find with the twin roman silver coins. The difference in the images on the face side of these coins is due to two different dies used to strike the blanks. The jaw, shoulder and nose shapes are different. The Iron lumps look like smelting slag, or the raw iron ore, but sure signs of iron smelting in that area. Oh, and good luck with your tour guiding business. 👍😁😁👏👏👏👏🍻🍻
