Your a classy young woman and love your classic style with edge!👍you are a smart shopper; I didn't learn this until my 2 sons went to college! I'm a bit older than you,67,🤣! Have you ever bought Patrick Mavros jewelry? It's luxury,but, you can wear it every day; my go to is his Pangolin line! Did you ever check out Douney and Burke purse line? My every day favorite!

I also buy most of my clothes from charity shops and they are often of a better quality than I could afford new. Fabrics I can't take to are linen, satin and nylon lace. I am also a big fan of dresses with appropriate jewellery; so easy to put together.

Very helpful video. I agree about ripped jeans. They look cheap and n 22:09 ot attractive. Definitely looking for better undergarments. If they don't fit properly, they are uncomfortable. Writing down your tips. Thanks much.😊

Hi Monica, I agree with all the points you mentioned. A great video with really good advice. I'm still working on creating a colour palette that works for me! I stick to black or navy jeans when I do wear them, traditional blue are ok but are hard to make look smart. Just love your refined style ❤

I am trying to build a capsule/interchangeable wardrobe so more options with less items. To avoid costly mistakes I do buy cheap items to test things out, bought a big oversized bag and hated it as too heavy when full and for me just a nuisance, same thing with hoop earrings, love them on other people, tried them and just not for me. If i like the item or it fits with my style i can then replace with a higher quality item. Will definitely consider these points going forward, thanks for all the tips ❤

Make up colour can be fun if you change it up according to your plans. It’s skill in application and knowing when to stop and what looks edgy and cool for parties etc but sophisticated and tasteful for work that makes you look out together well. For instance winged eyeliner can make eyes look smaller, as Monica shows.
@flohough187029 күн бұрын
Agree completely on number 3. I used to work with someone who had a huge wardrobe (which she regularly bragged about) but she always looked terrible because she didn't take care of it. Coming to work with a stain on a blazer or a hole in your dress just looks bad and totally unprofessional. All the clothing in the world isn't going to make you look better if it looks like it's dirty or falling apart.

I never wear glitter, just doesn't suit me, checks dont either and i have an electric debobbler which really makes jumoers etc look in new. Wished I'd found it years ago, my battery one was useless 😢

Hi Honey..... Loved this video. I agree with everything you said.... I HATE ripped jeans with a passion. Why would you spend money on damaged garments? However I do live in jeans myself but have found a brand and style that fit me well ( which I purchase pre owned). I also agree about how your underwear makes your clothes fit better if you wear decent underwear. I am very lucky to have good skin so I don't wear make up. The only thing I struggle with is my hair has become quite frizzy as I am post menopausal so I'm looking into anti frizz products now. I also agree about leg splits in skirts ( people with no dress sense wear that stuff lol) and cheap fabrics. I buy pre owned but good quality cotton, linen etc as it lasts a long time if it is cared for properly. As for jewellery... you have inspired me to look on ebay and gold plated things are very affordable ..... I feel a spending spree coming on and I hold you completely responsible hahaha xxxxxx

Great blog. I follow all those already but mine came from trial and error over my 6 decades on this earth. I think I will always cringe at under pants on men or women showing above the rise of the trouser or hip slung skirt.

I don’t like anything with glitter or embellishments sewn on or even that silver/gold thread you get interwoven in some Christmas outfits.

Secondhand charity shops all seem to only have gorgeous and 'highend' donations in size 6-10. . If you're 14 or above, you don't seem to find cute little jacket like yours 😢

Those ripped jeans are a no-no! And I don’t like pale blue denim-looks cheap. I regret buying a pale blue denim jacket - it must go to the charity shop. I find gold plated jewellery often looks brassy, so avoid it. I am a handbag addict - have you done a video on bags?

I was worried about this video, but you weren’t being horrible about people, so that’s ok. I’ve seen similar videos but where the influencer is being very mean about people who might not have the wherewithal to make different clothing choices. I do love some of the rule-breakers - Iris Apfel could wear right colours at once and make it look amazing! But there are some good basic rules here for people who want to look more traditionally smart. I do loathe a logo, even a high-end one. Perhaps because I’m older, and we never ever wore logos back then. I will wear a logo if I’m being paid to advertise the product, but otherwise I will not be a free billboard.
@themonicaway.Ай бұрын
Of course! ❤️ oh my, I would never want to be mean! Just for the lack of a better term is why the title was as it is ☺️ ..the angle is definitely more on how to dress in a smarter, chic way ❤️ thanks for the comment!

Precisely WHAT second hand market? I dont know of any besides Poshmark and thats still too expensive.
@themonicaway.Ай бұрын
Hello ☺️ There are many ways to shop on the secondhand market. Here’s a few examples off the top of my head, but there are many many more; eBay, Vinted, Depop, Shpock, Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree, Addicted to Handbags, Etsy, Love a Preloved, Woven a New, Oxfam Online, The Cirkel, Nearly New Cashmere, Vestiere Collective, local consignment stores, charity shops, thrift stores, yard sales + car boots - hope that helps ❤️ I have more videos on my channel if you’re looking for more or tips to navigate the secondhand market . Monica xx

There is one reason for a split skirt and it's not to look smart. Goes for cut out shoulders. Ripped jeans, my age shows here, are a sign of poverty. I Hate logos. Why should we pay to advertise a product?
