I think alot of this started with MTV. Music traditionally was about what you heard rather than what you saw. A hideous monster of a man could compose the most beautiful, soulful music and still steal the hearts of the public. With MTV, it started becoming progressively more important about how you look as opposed to your music (ofc there was still some talent needed). MTV also created a lot of non music shows, all focused on good looking people with no actual substance (think Jersey Shore). Another very relevant example was a dating show called NEXT and in one episode, a guy shows up for a date and the girl literally never begins the date and tells him he's too short (a prediction of future dating). I can tell you growing up that when MTV was at it's height, MTV was LAW for the youth (just the way the apps mentioned in the video are). Social media is likely an expansion of what was started with MTV culture. And now it's even more extreme since MTV was only on TV and gave media coverage to a select few. But social media is literally on every phone/computer, gives media coverage to ANYONE and is now reaching all over the world.

I was desired by all ages women when I was aged 19 - 23, and most popular guy in college. My friend unfortunately told me to ignore women even tho he tried with them. Is it now over for me aged 33? Men's prime is usually in our 40s and 50s. As we get older we get more money and if you hit the gym and work out you will increase your options. Just mainly improve your looks and work on your social skills. No its not over for you. And don't do some dumb shit to your friend and get locked up. That other guy that commented was probably joking or trolling. There's men out there that are older that attracted younger women.
