That last Cessna you showed (the red and black 172) is my Grandfathers Cessna 172G. It still runs, but hasn’t been flown since 2018. I grew up flying out of this airport, and have a lot of great memories from it.

Beautiful nostalgia, you found Cessnas 150, 172, Pipper Apache, Comanche, Stinson, a Bonanza, and probably a J3 Cub and others Great work. That's private aviation history. Congratulations.

Small single engine planes, nothing like flyin in a commercial plane. You need to get up in one Jay, life's too short to miss it! Tic toc tic toc.... Stayin tuned! 👍🤠

Wow Jay. Another great explore. You really do come up with the best locations. Truly the best. Such a nice spring day too. Couldn’t ask for better.

It's a pity seeing all those little planes go to waste. Which county and state are the airplanes based? The surrounding countryside looks beautiful. Great video Jay, 👊🏻🇬🇧🤗

Not sure of the county or the town it was in just happened to be passing through Delaware when I saw them

Believe it or not, this airport is not abandoned. There are 2 runways with one being closed, the one with the house. Yes, you can still land there. People buy salvage parts for their planes there. Most of the planes there will never fly again although parts from them probably will. You'd be surprised what can be reused after overhaul. Sadly corrosion in the aluminum probably is what sent them there in the first place. Cool video.

Ohh thanks for the info I talked to the owner he only told me bout the one shutdown from the house being built.

Abandoned isn’t really correct. They still are registered and titled to someone. I had a friend that bought and restored a small grass strip in western Detroit. THe hangers all had airplanes in them. Most hadn’t paid hangar rent in decades. Thousands of dollars. Took an army of lawyers and the FAA to track down the owners of record and then get rid of them. Owners or family members wouldn’t even answer the certified letter. More than a few forgot they even owned an airplane. IT had been that long since they’d been out to the field. That’s why these airplanes are all rotting in a field.

People, who think planes are always expensive, can buy one here, and fix it up.

Jay, next abandon airport you film record the N numbers then check the registry to get type of plane and last owner and when the registry expired. Then add this information.
@journeywithjayАй бұрын
Thanks for the tip I will definitely keep that in mind, much appreciated

Their is a huge amount of valuable $crap metal in that building.....
@Steverinomeister2 ай бұрын
The engines are incredibly expensive to rebuild and most likely exceeded the value of the plane. I checked the N number and they were deregistered as far back as the 1980’s although one lasted until 2014.

Many of these planes are common from the sixties and seventies. The first twin was a Piper Apache like the Songbird on the Sky King TV series. The more streamline looking one was a twin Comache by the same manufacturer. The one with the backward looking tail was Mooney. The high wing one with the single side window and back window was a Cessna 150. The back windows came around 1964. There was an older Cessna 172 shown shortly before the 150. The very grown one was a beechcraft bonanza, note the v tail. My spell check didn't work on indian names so sorry, just go by sound.
