As an American I have to say I've watched the slow decay of our society over the past 30 years. I hear people blaming politicians, corporations, and gender bending etc. However one thing Americans never blame is themselves. Even with the drug epidemic we are blaming Mexico and China instead of our society.

...finally a breathe of fresh air! American politicians were talkers for votes, but not doers.
@George-rj4fj Жыл бұрын
David ... Who leads the leaders to lead? Yes, society itself is to blame for the type of leaders it gets to select in a democracy. However, everything goes in a circle of life and politicians looks for popularity these days in order to get the vote. Therefore, they follow the trend and the trend follows the lead which is sort of ironic when you think about it. Furthermore, politicians know how to manipulate the public by using the easiest metric - of fear. They create fear by raising a "threat" coming from somewhere, whether internally or externally or both - and then, pushing themselves forward as the "only one" able to solve the problem and remove their fears. They create fears of crime and the breaking down of laws and raise fears of a foreign "enemy" even though there is none and convinces the public that they and only they can increase the budget for the military to protect them all. It is a time proven strategy that works for the politicians especially those who are "also-ran" (average), lazy, and inept - and when the population is inadequately educated or purposely kept uneducated, they'd always follow their fears. The great problem associated with fears and uncertainties that are created for political purposes is that they start to place a lot of stress and strain on the population and when that happens, cracks appear. Some people will break down under the strain of being afraid all the time - being afraid of whether they will have enough money to survive, enough to take care of their children, enough for their medical bills, enough for their gas (petrol), enough for rent, enough for food and so on - and their leaders and society telling them that they have no recourse but to depend upon themselves as individuals. The problem is that society is a community, and you cannot have a community and a society if everyone is a stand-alone individual. We all depend upon each other to survive as a society, and this is where social services comes in - as a shoulder for those who have fallen on hard times to lean on a bit. Take all those away and you have the fallen - and we have seen this happen time and time again when someone cracks up and takes their frustrations on society by conducting a mass shooting. Or they take to alcohol or some other drug to escape. Call that weak, if you will but not all can withstand the sort of daily stresses and strains imposed upon them relentlessly 24/7 in the news or through the bullhorn of some politicians seeking election. Some take to lighter drugs in the form of sports or watching football or going to the cinema or whatever diversion they want to escape the "noise". However, as the cacophony keeps going on and individuals are unable to cope, with no backup, what are they to do? Are they to be blamed for being unable to take the mental torture? The gentler nature of our souls tells us that we are wrong, and we should be there for one another and yet, we are torn apart by a society that believes we should all be separated, distinct and apart. It goes back to what we want as a society. If we want a "dog-eat-dog" world of "survival of the fittest", where the law of the jungle is the only law we have, then, the breaking down of society is to be expected since you cannot have a society which is a social gathering of people made up of only single stand-alone individuals. Unfortunately, this is what we are seeing in American society today - led by the belief in the "rugged individual". What do you think?

As an immigrant I witnessed the decay too. In the late 80s when I first came to the States, everywhere I traveled, I listened to the local radio stations, I read local newspapers, local magazines, and I watched local TV channels. They all had their own independent thoughts and opinions. Most of them were run by local families that stuck to the principle of freedom of speech. But from late 90s on, all the media channels, news papers, and magazines either went out of business or have been acquired by a few media conglomerates that control all the minds of America. Now either this or that, either with me or against me, ideologies are ruling the country, journalism is dead, propaganda is in place. Capital is highly concentrated to the hands of a few.

@@George-rj4fjThe problem the US facing is lack of leaders that fit the job! Electing by popularity doesn't work most of times. You can't elect a family Doctor and expect him to take care of your financial matters. I hate to say this; In China most of the politicians work themselves up on ladder for over 20 years as politician before he/she will get nominated as the candidate and voted by the each of the representatives of the Communist Party. Each of these leaders are seasonal politician, not some Joe Blow running shatty business or some good looking sexattic movie star gets voted in, in the Whitehouse. The Pentagon and the Military complex want to be the top dog in the world and they need the latest toys in the toolboxes, to justify the spending.They also need enemies to use the shing toys. Trillions were spent on artificial wars to benefit the elites in the Pentagon. Can you imagine investing 5-6 trillions dollars in the US economy?...there wouldn't be a homeless or a beggar in the US.

I saw a lot of angry people in USA and I saw a lot of happy people in China. The difference is that China spends a lot of money on Civic Infrastructures and making Civic Services extremely affordable. The citizens of China are extremely respected by their Government. Contrast this with USA, the richest country in the World. The biggest problem with USA is that it is a Corporatist Country, where corporations control the people, not the government. A lot of Tax Payers money goes to Corporations with very little Tax Payers money is left for the Government. As a result, you have 1% of USA's population owning 90% of USA's wealth. A Government looks after all the people. A Corporation just looks after their profit margins ... and their Corporation only deals with one drop in the ocean of Civilian needs. Then you end up in a situation like Jeff Bezos (Amazon). He has so many billions of dollars, he doesn't know what to do with it. Does he spend it on a Bullet Train network throughout USA? No. No profits in it for him. Does he spend it on getting rid of Student debt? No. No profits for him. Does he spend it on lowering the medical cost for everybody in USA? No. No profits for him. But he could do all those things. So ... what does he do? He has poured in BILLIONS of Dollars to go on an 8 minute Orbital Space Flight for him and friends. Then he does it all over again, spending Billions of Dollars to send his mates on another 8 minute Orbital Space Flight. None of the helped Citizens of USA. USA has the worst Civic Infrastructures and most expensive Civic Services I have ever witnessed in a Developed Country. Unless you live in a city were billionaires live, you have poor roads, poor water supply, poor communication services, poor education provisions, etc. Hence why tens of millions of USA Citizens are angry, overweight, and face depression.

One more thing I'd like to mention is how in the West (especially in the US) poor people who fall into debt or pay their rent too late, get put onto a blacklist by their landlord (in the US) or get a very low "Schufa-Score" (in Germany). The blacklisting makes it near impossible to ever be allowed to rent an affordable apartment again or to rent at all. And the Schufa-Score makes it sometimes impossible to own a home among other stuff. And here is the thing: THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN IN CHINA. In China you can't just be doomed to become homeless, just because you missed a month's pay of rent. And it's so much easier to find affordable housing in China if you don't choose to live at some trendy city center (the amazing public transportation makes it possible for people in China to live more outside of the city while also enjoying the city). In Germany you get JAIL TIME (I'm not kidding) if you ride trains/bus without a ticket! (I should ad: German train tickets are hella expensive. Inaffordable for working class people unless the company is willing to pay for it). Something unthinkable in China. Yet the West loves to paint a dark picture of China because allegedly China has a dystopian "Social Credit System". No... China doesn't have such a dystopian system that puts people into homelessness for being poor.... WE IN THE WEST HAVE THIS SYSTEM!! It infuriates me that Westerners believe everything the ruling class and their media tells them... they believe awful things happen in China but not in the West, all while they can witness the opposite happening right infront of their eyes... yet they still don't see it?! Western propaganda is maybe too dense and all encompassing to make them wake up...

most landlords in china are individuals, and depend on my experience in europe (ireland) and the us, most are companies, this may be the key. In china, the ✌️social credit ✌️is just like the u.s. SSN, managing only bank account and financial credit. so, your landlord in china, an individual, is unlikely to access this score, and instead, you need to pay a deposit of 1-3 month rent, and this is also negotiable. late payment are also ok if you tell your landlord you are facing a financial problem and they allow you to pay it later

The problem in America is that almost everyone is desperately trying to protect their own interests while shamelessly infringing on the rights of others, all in the name of "sacred and inviolable freedom!"
Sabrina, the BIGGEST issue in USA compared to, not only China, but all the other developed countries in the world. USA have citizens rights to guns. They can go to a shopping centre and buy milk, bread, cereal ... and guns (military guns at that). They have a franchise called "Family Friendly Guns", for goodness sakes! As a result, USA has 40,000 Gun related deaths EVERY YEAR (compared to virtually ZERO gun related deaths EVERY YEAR in every other developed city in the world). I saw Police in China, and they didn't carry guns. They were Civic Police. I saw Police in USA, and they were all wearing a utility belt full of arsenals (gun, taser, handcuffs, tie straps, pepper spray, etc). I couldn't keep my eyes off of their weaponry in shear disbelieve. They were Militia Police. And when they talked to you, many had their hand hovering over their gun. WTF!!! You send your kid to school in USA, and you kid may not be alive by the end for the day (2,000 kids get killed by guns in USA, every year). You send your kid to school in China (or anywhere else in the World) and you know your kid will be at home at the end of the day.

Among other things, I wasn't comfortable being expected to call myself an American even though I wasn't born there. I also couldn't possibly be patriotic to a nation that's using its Police Officers to engage in racially motivated official murder of people of African descent, under the guise of self defense, fear or mistake. The above practice has been used for over 4 centuries as a leverage to control the growing population of people of African descent in America. Considering how much the country is run on very low or no moral and ethical standards, it was against my principles to align my high moral and ethical standards with the US's low or no moral and ethical standards. For example, let's take the US's complacency with Apartheid and genocide against the Palestinians. And that's just to mention but one of many US government and civilian backed attrocities
