My FULL Deville Speaker Review Video: • Fleetwood Deville Spea...
My FULL written review: www.stevehuffphoto.com/2021/1...
Fleetwood Sound SHOWS you the Difference between the Standard and SQ: • The Fleetwood DeVille ...
My Website: www.stevehuffphoto.com
Instagram: @stevehuffofficial
Today I talk about the Fleetwood Sound Deville Loudspeakers. I compare the standard version to the company "SQ" Version which stands for Superior Quality. The SQ has an updated crossover, silver and gold wiring and the full speaker is made of torrified PA Ash. These are quality. Bespoke. These are the last speakers I will ever want or need. The question is, what is the difference between these two versions of the same speaker? I answer that in this video.
Enjoy!

I’m glad to see someone backup what I’ve been saying for over a year now….. I, like you, ordered these for my store unheard. These demand to be heard. Anyone near NJ can hear them both here at Delve Audio.

I was waiting for this type of video from you. After seeing Jonathan’s in-depth video on the differences between the standard model and the SQ model, I can see why the SQ’s are your choice. The use of torrefied wood throughput the construction and the upgraded internal electronics make the SQ special. It’s the cherry on top of your favorite sundae.

Steve I Just wanted to share with you that I started following you because of your lens reviews. But I started listening when you would go off on your audio rifts. I ended up buying two systems one with Fluance bookshelf speakers and a tube amp the other is edifier mk1000 bookshelf speakers. Lol I started with a beginner set but it is 1000% better than having a single Bose Bluetooth speaker.

Thanks for the great work in reviewing these Steve. Perhaps you can get Jonathan Weiss on your channel for an interview. Thanks for the comparison Steve. Does the increased transparency of the SQ make poorly recorded Rock sound "worse" than on the standard version? That does happen. Appreciate any guidance as always before going down the upgrade road.
@HiFiHuff
@HiFiHuff 2 жыл бұрын
No, the SQ are still flat out amazing for rock or metal. They do well with ALL music. The Standards will be a shade darker in sound and the SQ will bring a touch more dynamics and life and energy. I listen to rock all the time. These are the first speakers I have owned that sounds good with everything. No need to cherry pick what you listen to with these. Thank you!

In your Klipsch La Scala review you stated that unlike prior versions, the AL5 did not have shouty horns. Now in the Fleetwood Deville review you suggest that the La Scala might actually be a bit shouty. Which is it? Are the new La Scala AL5’s shouty or not, in your view? Perhaps an A/B comparison between your La Scala AL5’s and the Fleetwood Deville would be in order. I'm particularly interested because I bought the La Scala AL5's based largely on your review. Thanks very much.
@HiFiHuff
@HiFiHuff 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not “shouty” but does have that horn coloration. It wouldn’t be noticed without a side by side comparison. So without doing the side by side, most wouldn’t notice the coloration. When doing it, you can hear it. More so in the forte IV than the LaScala. Even with this slight coloration, it doesn’t change my views on the LaScala (of which I still own). It’s a fantastic speaker, but there’s always better if one wants to search for it.

They are great looking speakers but I am astonished that the base deville is not already real wood given the price. I would already expect real wood and top notch crossover parts at $13000. I take your point about the sound but part of the value proposition of high end speakers has to be in immaculate construction.
@HiFiHuff
@HiFiHuff 2 жыл бұрын
The base Deville is Painted Plywood. The tops and bottoms and horn of the standard is torrified PA ASH. Plywood is much better than some speakers that cost well over $10k and use MDF. Ply has a much better resistance to moisture and scuff damage. All that matters to me is the sound and the style, and these win for my tastes in both areas. Most speakers today are made of MDF, like the $14k Klipsch LaScala. MDF is basically compressed sawdust that is glued together. Some speakers are made of metal. Some plastic. Not very many are made of real wood and it does alter the character of the speaker when it comes to sound. I'd check out this video that shows all of the internal differences as well as the wood used for both: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npObmYmLfpl4haM

Sorry but I also listen to my music every day for long sessions and am more than happy with my vintage set up. These do look fantastic but the price point so they should. Cost is ludicrous as it is with much ‘audiophile’ (what a nonsense term BTW!) product. Most of us of a certain age can’t even pick up the subtleties of high end equipment given that our ears have long since started to deteriorate anyway. Love the passion etc and without a doubt these look stunning but I would have expected the ‘standard’ one to be all I ever needed! What happens if/when when they bring out the SQ special edition I wonder!?

Your ears can be restored by extended water-only fasting. Deterioration is not a one-way street. See Loren Lockman's channel on sensory restoration.

Most "high end" speakers presently offered are way too expensive. One notable exception are the KEF LS50 Meta at 1,599...even with buying a KC64 subwoofer (1,499) your still at about 3,000 for the entire full range package.

About your Reviews of this Speaker, I got quit interested in purchasing one pair. So I checked out the Fleetwood Pricelist. And to be honest......they may sound incredible good, but they are WAY OVERPRICED by a MILE. And I will explain my meaning: It`s no real exotic ( aka very pricey ) but just normal priced domestic US Wood......ok ok it is roasted......but come on guys......this is like getting smokes oak wood............it is not Rocket Science.......nor is this wood scarced by any mean or have to be transported half around the globe. And the extra option list is just insane. If you would like to have the complete speaker made by this roasted wood, Fleetwood charge you a few tsd. $ extra for just 3 more of this heat treated boards. If you would like to have a simple Paintjob ( not multilayer Piano high gloss Paint.....just simple paint to wood)....they charge you over 2500,-$ extra.......if you would like to have a better cross over........they charge you a few tsd. $ again for this extra parts. And this is just not compensated by what you get in return for your hard earned money. Don`t get me wrong, I don`t say Fleetwood delivers bad quality in parts or craftsmanship, nor that this Speakers sound not incredible good ( This Speaker just look awesome). But when a company charges me Tsd.$ over Tsd. $ for Extras that cost them only a couple Duzend, or maybe -a few hundred bugs.......I`M SORRY TO SAY THIS, BUT THEY JUST TOTALLY TRY TO RIPP OFF. I will not buy it, even if Gods own Voice would come out of it.

They are not cheap to acquire, no. But they will (and have) stopped me from wanting any other speaker, or even trying any other speakers. This will save me and already has. But audio is personal. Design is personal. I understand 100% about cost, and how these re not for everyone but the audio obsessed. ; ) For us, they were worth it. For others, .maybe not. Depends on your passion for listening. We listen every night and enjoy it. Thank you for your thoughts.

SQ version costs about the same as Wolf Von Langa SON with 11 inch field coil woofers and AMT tweeter. These woofers cost about $5k alone for a pair. cabinet is much larger, there is a passive radiator.... no comparison. Not sayin these are bad, but competition is heavy@@HiFiHuff

I simply don't understand how you can make enough money to afford probably $100k of stereo gear by living in the middle of nowhere, probably cutting grass and managing the grounds every single day, and working from home with a KZbin channel. How the fuck do people do this?
@HiFiHuff
@HiFiHuff 2 жыл бұрын
I am 52 years old. I have worked hard my entire life and saved my entire life. Almost two years ago I sold a house I paid $79k for for well over $300k. We do not spend on jewelry, fancy clothes, travel, etc. We live simply here and stay home 99% of the time. This means less spending on "stuff". To top it off, this place cost us well under $200k and taxes are 1/3 the cost of what we used to pay. Electricity is $300 less per month here as well ($150 vs $450 in AZ). We have no debt. We work one day per week on the grounds on average for grass, weeds, garden. If trees fall, we work more but overall it's way more peaceful here, and this KZbin channel makes me almost zero money. It's not what this channel is about. It's a passion project. So no, this channel doesn't make enough money to live a fancy lifestyle, but we do not want one. I do many things, this is just one of them. I also could never and would never spend even close to $100k on audio. As for KZbin...the only way to make a living from it is to do daily videos and build up an audience who will watch those videos. With daily videos and an average view count of 50k views each one can make $7k per month easily, or more. Others go the sponsorship route, taking cash from companies they promote in small ads within the videos. These usually range from $2k to $5k per insertion. So far I have turned down all offers so haven't taken money from anyone in regards to this channel or any audio review/video. I may down the road though if I spend more time on it (allow sponsorships). I only do videos when I am excited about what I am talking about, or want to share a story or info. This channel is not a Job for me. Thank you.
