Farsports all day. For $900 USD, I got disc brake, DT Swiss 240 hubs, 35mm depth (I don't like deep section wheels), and they weigh 1250g for the pair. 25mm internal width, hooked, sapim spokes. Honestly better than most wheels that cost 2-3x its price. My second pair of Farsports wheels, and just as fantastic as the first.

Best I’ve tested in 2 depths. Hunt 44UD and Ascent Polaris 69mm. Zipp 353 NSW build quality has been terrible, about to swap out my 3rd warranty claim. All front wheel, rear has been perfect.
@moonfleet9537 Жыл бұрын
For your zip, what is the problem? The Hubs?
@JayLato Жыл бұрын
@@moonfleet9537 all issues have been with the front wheel, rear has been perfect. 1- tire blew off at 70PSI twice, 1st just sitting in living room untouched, 2nd while riding uphill. Zipp replaced the wheel under warranty. 2- warranty replaced wheel was cosmetically flawed with some small black paint bubbles everywhere, and 2 spots that looked like not enough resin made it across some fibers, Freddy Creuger skin like. 3- 3rd wheel. Won’t seal even with Silca Ulitmate. There is 1 spot on the inner sidewall, at the carbon mould seem, that is gapped enough to push sealant out. On all 3 wheels thus far, the poor finishing quality of the inner rim wall at the carbon mould joints have been consistent enough for me to bring it up before receiving my last warranty replacement. Now this time that specific issue is what is causing the problem. From the original wheel to the current 3rd one (4th in progress) the inner rim wall always has poor finishing, specifically where the joints are, they either stick up too high, easily felt when running finger along wall, or in this case concave enough to leak sealant. When comparing my original wheel photos to the current wheel it appears they added what looks like thin tape / clear coat over the joints in question, but still a build quality issue. I haven’t had any other carbon rim with these issues.

Same issue with front 353 wheel, imperfection of inner side wall overlap causing sealing issue. No such issue with 303 FC. I left it overnight tilted with sealant and the 353 has been fine but I'll likely return for a replacement. This issue aside, they ride great IMO.

@gregmorrison7320 Жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly and especially if you like 35mm rims. Beyond that you need to go carbon but the biggest gains are moving from a box section to 35mm anyway.

These wheels took quite a beating for carbon. Never heard of Winspace before that. All carbon spokes. The claimed weights for zipp wheels include valve cores and tubeless tape. So, for a fair comparison with other wheels, you should list the claimed weight without them, which is 1258 for the NSWs and somewhere in the ballpark of 1350 for the Firecrests if I remember correctly. I own the 454 NSWs and they weigh in at 1358g.

Lots of not so necessarily true assumptions on display. Deep wheels aren’t necessarily all that aero, much depends on the particular tire you’re using. Worrying about ‘responsiveness’ is sorta silly, the difference in power required to accelerate a really light wheel vs a reasonable weight wheel is measured in tenths of a watt. And, please, stop talking about drag savings compared to box section rims. No one uses box section rims anymore. The comparison should be against a ~33-35mm deep V-ish shaped aluminum rim

Zipp 404's are my favourite wheel paired with a 25mm conti str for the flat, descents and rolling terrain. The 353's seem to be superior at climbing at steeper gradients (say 6% and above) and they can cope with the windiest weather. They also handle great, especially when cornering but they don't roll that great on the flats so would temper expectations in that regard. If I could have only one set of wheels, of the two it would be the 404's ... a lot cheaper too.
