Excellent show, I always enjoy your discussions. I just wanted to bring up some lease options. When you have a lease, you have 4 options at the end. 1. Turn in the lease to the lender 2. Trade the vehicle into a dealer for another auto. The dealer pays off the lease like any other loan. This is a great option if you are over the contract miles or if the value of the vehicle is worth more to the dealership than the lease contract buy out price. 3. Purchase the auto for the remaining amount due on the lease contract and keep it. Pay cash or refinance as another loan. 4. Sell the vehicle private party for more than the lease buyout. This is what I do, and I have made money on every lease i have had. Just think of a lease as just another way of financing that protects you in case that vehicle ends up not holding its value

Here in Australia, they have just started bringing in Ford F150 Dual Cab with the V8 petrol optioned with supercharger. The cheapest version is $225,000, and we pay $2.20 a litre for fuel, near enough to $9 a gallon. Hearing Americans complain about fuel and car prices falls on deaf ears here. 95% of these style trucks are diesels in Aus.

Are there deals to be had on Nissan Titans? 23 and 24 models since they are discontinuing them? Always seemed like a good truck (I wouldn’t tow a bunch and the payload is plenty for me. Basically need a full sized just since I have three kids, one in a booster and two in car seats). Anyway, seems reliable and plenty for what I need since me and the fam just go to the snow a good amount. Would love thoughts on that.

Thanks gentlemen! Great video. It is so nice to see cars and trucks selling at substantial deals again. I always buy whatever truck has the best price at the moment. Ram trucks are solid and a very good buy even though a little long in the tooth. For medium sized trucks I will buy the Nissan Frontier any day as long it is cheaper. Old school V6, no turbo and decent transmission are a very solid proposition. I won’t cry at Jeep’s grave because they have been so overpriced the last few years without innovation and improvement, so a correction in the prices is the least Stellantis can do. Buy whatever is cheapest!

They were cool as a niche vehicle when they were one offs from AEV, etc... Once they were a production Jeep? As a Jeep guy, it didn't take long to see a couple things from people buying them and taking them out.... They don't make good trail Jeeps or good trucks... I guess they're ok as Overlanders, but myself personally there's other vehicles I'd rather build an Overlander on.

I don't know if it's a lingering supply chain issue or if dealers are just stupid, but I can't figure out why most GMC Sierra 1500's with the 3.0l don't have the max trailering package? I feel the same way. I just traded in my 2011 5.0 Lariat with with 130k. I really wanted a new one but that was not in the budget. However thanks to the increase in vehicle supply after the pandemic, I was able to track a number of used truck for 3 or 4 months and watch their prices drop. In October, I found what I was looking for about 30 minutes away. 2020 5.0 Lariat with the 6.5' bed. Was listed for $47,900 and only 12,800 miles. I watched it drop in price every 2 weeks. Till it got down to $44k. End of December I finally went in and negotiated down to $41k, and traded in my 2011. Payments under $700. while the interest rate is pretty high, I can always finance, but for sure I'll pay it off sooner than 5 years.

You also have to remember in 5 years when the used car market starts to normalize these trucks will nose dive in value. So everyone here has a valid point with 20% off of a truck that was increased by 50% is going to have you end up under water in a few years

How do you determine how long a truck has been on a dealer’s lot?
@GKMess42 Жыл бұрын
What I think is happening with the higher trims being sold (and mid to low trims still available) is the "rich" (six figure income) people can afford to buy new vehicles, but the average consumer ("middle class") can't even afford a base model vehicle right now because the cost of those base models has gone up nearly 50% since before COVID. You used to be able to get a base model car or truck for under $25k before 2020, but now you can barely find one for less than $40k.

I’m interested in a Ford F150 Platinum package. Would consider a GMC 1500 Denali Ultimate. Both 2023 models are on lots. How is it that they are not willing to treat these as “Used” trucks. So, MSRP negotiated down by 10%, from $75k to $68k. Now in 2024, why would the dealership not sell this example truck for between $62k to $65k?
