In the defense of Lightning Quick, it does have one use, the one Shay(Shun) used it for. Equip a Raidraptor Xyz Monster with Raidraptor Ultimate Mace, so when the monster is destroyed by battle you can add a Rank-Up-Magic Quick-Play Spell to you're hand, preferably one that can be used to bring back an Xyz Monster the turn it was destroyed and rank it up, and use Lighting Quick to activate it that turn. It's very situational, but it still has a purpose. Volcanic Ash also has some use, like switching one of your opponents attacking Monster to defense to stop the attack. However, the problem is it only works on one Monster so if your opponent has two or more monsters then you're in trouble. Just run Zero Gravity instead it affects all Monsters so it's so much better, and it has more than one use, you could use it to stop the opponents attacking Monsters, or if your opponent tries to change your Monsters to defense when you attack you have a counter, and you could use it to switch you're own attacking Monsters to defense if you're opponent tries to use a Mirror Force on you to save your Monsters.

Another card that just power creeps Volcanic Ash is No Entry, which makes all opponents monsters go to defense. It even makes your opponent discard a card if you're using the anime version.

I looked it up in the wiki and it turns out that despite the name, Volcanic Ash isn't even a Volcanic archetype card. It was used by a one-off villain in Zexal in the first tag duel of the series just so his partner can use an equally shitty spell card to up the level of his defense position monster by 1 in order to bring out Number 19: Freezadon. Basically, the card's only purpose is to be used in a tag duel to pull out a specific combo for a Rank 5 XYZ play, no wonder these guys resorted to cheating just to get any advantage whatsoever!

Lightning Quick has good synergy with the Superlight Viking deck. One of their best opening plays is to use their Level 2 Superlight Viking Danish Baker's effect that lets him be normal summoned from your hand if you control 5 of fewer monsters in your main monster zone and then setting Lightning Quick.

Ancient Sunshine was only used so Luna wouldnt allow Ancient Fairy Dragon to be taken by Meklord Emperor Skiel in her duel against Lester, with her teamed up with Leo. The card only exist so Lester wouldnt be able to steal it from her as a plot point was, Lester tricked Luna into hanging out with him just so he could steal it. Funny as in that same duel, Lester negates the burn anyway which in turn Luna immediately looses anyway. Its really pathetic all things considered.

Just thought of something with Lightning Quick. Let's say it's activated as CL2. When you activate the Spell, how does it affect the chain order? Does it start a new chain? Does it activate and become the new CL2? Does it activate and go after CL1 but in the same chain? And with cards like Twin Twisters, when would you pay the cost?

I imagine it would probably be something like this if it were printed IRL: "Discard 1 Quick-Play Spell Card, and apply that Card's cost as cost; this card's name and effect becomes that Spell's name and effect when this card is activated, also apply any restrictions listed on that card" But that's just how Konami would hypothetically translate the card to be as close as possible. I have no clue how the anime card would actually behave, since it's only ever used as CL1 in the anime, and Team Ignis puts their focus on IRL card programming, so they wouldn't bother to fix any bugs with the card, meaning if it isn't behaving properly we won't know (I'm kinda surprised they bothered to program it at all, that must've been a nightmare. Manga Zombiestein when?)

Lightning Quick’s sole purpose to me seems to be activating something like Called By or Crossout Designator, or really any Quick Play, during your opponents turn while you’re putting them on the Maxx C challenge

"Nobody runs Cobalt Eagle" Trying to decide whether or not this is dated or not... then again, whether or not this is dated depends entirely on whether people prefer the OG Crystal Beasts or the Advanced ones. I've only heard arguments for why they're bad, all of which I totally agree with, but I also haven't seen anyone compare them to the OGs... which are also pretty bad. Their effects are all just kinda objectively better (specifically the effects, not the maintenance cost), so it mostly comes down to if you think it's worth it to rely on a subpar field spell to do your plays But if you do, you're DEFINITELY running Cobalt Eagle

Bizarre sacrifice has the potential to be super broken in the right deck. Assuming timing isn't an issue that's floating effects galore. Not to mention you could have cards that activate when your monsters are destroyed by a card effect. Generally speaking anything the negs your opponent is broken when you do it to yourself assuming the set up is right and the deck is properly built. Bizarre Sacrifice feels like it just needs the right deck to be insanely good; like card destruction but for board.

Ironically enough, I can think of one archetype Cursed Waters Lvl 3 can work in... Fricking Atlanteans. It may be the fact you can swarm the field for Poseidra or get a Rank 3 that same turn, but it at least fill the field well.

Ancient Sunshine reminds me of the spell card, Card of Sanctity, but without the 2100 burn to your opponent. Even if the real version we have of Card of Sanctity allowed us to draw 6 cards instead of 2, I don't know if it's still worth losing cards from your hand AND field just for the plus 6 in your hand.
