Hi really nice video! :D I really enjoy watching top peoples armies & strategies. Personally, I like the game most on 800 points. I have a feeling that how lower the points, how more important numbers are. Around 700-800 points, people start to add in a few big things, I think 800 points really balances the game, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. For example: Azog hunter's army has really high numbers, but if you just add in bolg (full equipment) + 2 hunter orcs, you already have 800 points. The same goes for most armies. I think this makes spamming cheap units less effective, since it's hard to engage all 60+ models for example on a board with terrain. Also, this makes other tactics (Magic, archery, cavalry...) more useful tools.

Try 98 goblin town Goblins at 600pts with Scribe so you need more models when you get reinforcements! 😇

It's interesting. Even being in the UK there's definitely much more of a focus on numbers over big heroes or monsters compared to what you see in a lot of batreps or hear about in other places. I'm curious if that's bleed over from WFB having been more popular once upon a time here than elsewhere.

Ardacon limits named hero use based on the teams you sign up in. This led to there being less named heroes represented in general because they had to be split across nine players in some cases. Hence jay and Tomaso having very different heroes in their lake town lists
@foehammer11723 жыл бұрын
1st and 2nd drew in the final game, and Nicky's dwarves came up against Jay's Lake-town for Reconnoitre so the dwarves didn't stand a chance.

Seems like a lot of these tourny list are favoring more models. When I play 600 pts I generally don't go above 25-30 models bc I like playing with a theme. Like an army led by a hero, but perhaps my lists are never as competitive. Also I'm here in the US so maybe our playstyle is different too.
@ConquestCreations3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I completely agree with you I am usually around 25-30. The trend of armies that win over here is middle numbers and relatively cavalry heavy which is very different from the Ardacon lists
@ar-mando12403 жыл бұрын
Most important thing at 500 and 600 are numbers, so not suprised by the results of the Ardacon. A list at 600 points under 30 models will really struggle to win anything, normally it is important to be 36 + or in the 40+ models

Normally it's recorded on STF, you can see previous years videos on there. We were going to head up but it was my mum's birthday and unfortunately family comes first. They're talking about getting a proper stream with commentators for next year

Finally got to the end - quick correction: there are two monsters. Gulavhar, of course, but also Shelob. :-)

Very true. The comment was more about the lack of monsters. I would have expected to see more than just 2 in the top 10.

Australia is known to have generally a very different meta compared to the rest of the world when it comes to 40K and Sigmar, so it does not surprise me we have a very different play style for MESBG

I have 2 questions. If a model has a bow and shoots, and then is engaged in combat, will he automatically change to sword and shield to fight? And if a model with 2 handed sword in combat gets a 6 on dice, making it a 5 for using 2 handed sword, can this model use a mite to make it a 6? Or 5 is the maximum value for him? Thanks
@matthewkappos36023 жыл бұрын
At the start of a fight a model can choose any war gear to fight with. However models with a bow and a shield never get the +1 defence for having a shield, although they can still use shielding in a fight. And yes a hero can use might to increase their dice to a 6 when they get the -1 for 2h weapon

The Hobbit armies drove me away from SBG for a long time.
@ConquestCreations3 жыл бұрын
The Hobbit armies are great. They are really cohesive with the Lord of the Rings armies and there is no real power difference between the Lord of the Rings and armies. I definitely wouldn't be afraid of them
@alecfowler22613 жыл бұрын
@@ConquestCreations I find a lot of them are not immersive in their cohesion. I don't have the Hobbit armies book, so I don't have specifics to support my opinion. Just a lot of different things made me wrinkle my nose when random nobodies from the Hobbit list overshadow and outdo characters and warriors from the LotR, regardless of whether it's 'balanced'. It's probably in part due to having a very different relationship to the Hobbit film than to the LotR. Most of the Hobbit SBG is drawn from the film, hence having crazy stupid trolls with blade-limbs, Alfrid pulling some wizardry completely out of wack with the film character, and Azog being Gothmog on steroids to name a few. Just my opinion, thanks for reading!

Interesting analysis but I think you fall into the trap of assuming Lists make a difference. Player skill is the number one factor here. Most of the top ten players are consistent tournament winners. In fact I don't think any of them have never podiumed before and it includes two Warhammer World Grand Tournament winners, Two Ardacon Winners, and three who have won some of the Great British Hobbit League's most competitive players. Also Jay has played Lake Town for years, and has won consistently with it for years - it's always been considered very strong in the UK (3 out of top 5 players playing it is a giveaway!).
@ConquestCreations3 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree with you more. We should have spoken more about how the list is very secondary to the skill of a player. I think Sean, Josh and I believe that so heavily that we thought it was a given and didn't discuss it. If we do future video's like this one we will talk about player skill a lot more. Thanks for the comment Harry!

@@ConquestCreations no worries man! I don’t mean to be nit picky, but I do think it’s worth flagging especially for new players. You touched on how tough LakeTown is to use but it could be emphasised more!

@nameisbad2 жыл бұрын
Yeah coming from other genres, I hate the whole points system, there's only one system that makes sense to me if you want to be a truly competitive system: Bracket system with a winner and losers side, to explain it simply: Two losses and you are out. (First loss takes you into losers bracket, second loss means you are out of the tournament). when two people left, the winner of winners bracket goes against the winner of losers bracket. Winner of winners bracket needs to win once. winner of Losers bracket needs to win twice.
