Exactly. And in some places, left turners are always at fault legally, even if they are not actually at fault in the situation. This happened to my wife who was making a left, and the guy in the right turn lane decided to keep going straight while also changing lanes in the intersection. Not legal at all, but because she was making a left, she was automatically at fault. Absolutely stupid, but that's the legal system where we are.

@@ScytheNoire When I was getting my license, that was explicitly stated on exams to never trust blinker only. Until you can see that someone is actually going to turn, you should wait as it will be your fault anyways. Obviously there is another thing. Changing mind. I would add it to the list, people sometimes change their mind and suddenly do another thing without giving others time to see this. The best example is when you decided to go straight when you were slowing down and blinking. Turn off the blinker and you have full right to speed up and go straight. Someone else on the other hand might not have the time to react and would already cross your way.

The most annoying behavior by far is hogging the left lane. People who drive below the speed limit on the left lane with a line of cars behind them. "I am driving fast enough. Why should I move?", "I need to turn left in 40 miles!" or "I drive 2MPH faster than the trucks, which I'd like to pass on our 200 Mile road trip!" are no excuses. In Germany you will get a ticket for driving on the left for no reason. This is not just annoying, it is also dangerous, because people will pass you on the right while being annoyed. You also contribute to traffic jams and impede the free flow of traffic. It is also just common courtesy for others. Done with passing someone? Move over back to the right, no matter how fast you are going.

I'll happy wack it up to 85 mph just to give myself some room on the road. A lot of people just dont get that its safer to speed and overtake sometimes to spread the traffic, rather than robotically drive the speed limit bumper to bumper, speed doesn't kill, not using blinkers properly, not giving room for error and not paying attention does, and then speeding on top of doing those things makes it worse. But when the government runs speeding ad campaigns over and over again, and have cameras set up to bust you for going even slightly over the limit in some states (even by just a few kph in some states) people get scared to even drive at the limit sometimes.

Actually, the zipper merge is the most effective way to merge, both time-wise and space wise. What country are you in where this is not the case? We learn this in driving school and it is the only way we merge in my town (Montréal)

In the states when people attempt to do this they shiver their way into the lane and then someone has to slam on the brakes and then that dominoes back and boom we have a huge traffic jam.

6:12 this one annoys me less because I always assume they aren't actually turning anyway. Once I was turning right, and the next car was slowing down and had the right turn signal on, and as I turned onto the street they sped up and leaned on their horn. The safest rule, no ifs no buts, is drive like everyone else is nuts.

So many of these occur out here in California, but my God the one that really peeves me is the blinker! Everything you said about it is true to the tee, and is the most irritating thing drivers do

One time i had to go onto the shoulder. It was a freeway race in my crown vic p71. Yes it was stupid and to this day i thank god i didnt kill someone. But i was racing a bmw doing 110 or maybe more. I changed lanes into the slow lane and in front of me was like model T doing maybe 50. It seriously was a model T. I almost blew right through them. The shoulder was my only hope. And yes the BMW backed off and it was another win

I loved driving there seems like a battleground at first but it's really not hard to understand how it flows and use your horn. Seems more efficient that Western roads sometimes...

8:40 Weird fact about shoulder driving, in Massachusetts at least there is the route 3 highway where shoulder driving is allowed in certain direction on weekdays at certain congestion times in certain portions of the highway with wider shoulders. I've done it before and it helps with the traffic a lot. Only when its in the legal time though obviously.
