EoC was the nail in the coffin for me. Had been playing since ‘05. Debated returning after I heard of OSRS but to start over after nearly a decade of work just didn’t seem right. On a side note, the GE was probably the best massive update Jagex ever introduced. As you said, kids nowadays will never know the struggle of downloading an autotyper and spamming “buying rune scim” for hours only to have someone swap a noted rune scim for a notes iron scim at the last second.

With the new combat introduced to RuneScape I quit for good, until 2007 version came back. RS3 will never be a game i'll play due to the combat, sadly.

One main thing that would have helped out RS3 is whenever updating something they should have left an option for the older versions: Being able to play old music instead of the new when going through areas. Ability to toggle Graphics style and so on.

Honestly as an old player, the jagex sanctioned rwt in the form of bonds and such is what is keeping me from coming back and starting a new account on osrs. Which on that i find laughable that osrs now has roughly 70% of the playerbase. (I played from 2005 thru 2010)

How did you miss the most obvious game-changing update; "Lodestones"?? There's another equally absurd game changer, the removal of Agility shortcuts and replacing them with gateways, bridges and other ways to walk thru previously challenging spots (which actually made a player work for access to interesting locations)...but yeah, lodestones killed all concept of challenging gameplay, now it's just safescape :P

I feel liked with the mention of OSR you should of also mentioned legacy mode as an option that reverts the combat to pre-EOC. For a time that was much needed for me till I adjusted and learned eoc can heal me all the time! OSR couldn't be bothered since I would lose years and years of gainz.

Idk if osrs's real player population is actually much higher if at all higher than rs3, one thing is definitely certain though, there has never been more bots in a version of runescape than there is in osrs right now.

i started playing runescape in the late stages of runescape 1. i remember the graphic changes when rs2 came out but i had no knowledge of the game so i did think much about it. now i play osrs almost every day. and in 1 year and around 5-7 months two of my first runescape accounts will have 15 years cape on rs3. and still i feel like a noob in the game when it comes to knowledge. what would have hapend if one of my old school mates almost 15 years ago showed me runescape. btw i still play with him 13+ years later on osrs XD

Concerning EOC and Dung etc on RS, As you said, OSRS has a more numerous player base then AS, THAT should get LAGEX out of it's state of Denial. RS needs a total Revamp, NXT is NOT playable on Many systems out there as compaired to OSRS. Not a smart move to cut your customers when your game is strugleing.

Love your content man, but the reason you gave to why Jagex decided to release osrs is completely wrong. There used to be a private server for a few months under the name "2007scape" with the idea of bringing the old RuneScape back when eoc was released. much like OSRS is today. Jagex didn't like how popular the private server became and decided 2007scape had to be shut down or lawsuits would take place. Shortly after 2007scape went offline. Shortly after that Jagex decided all on their own that there needs to be an OSRS according to their documentary. Which is obviously bullshit, but.. you can't expect them to tell you they stole the idea from a private server (Just like a whole lot of other content they released).
