I bought the TTArtisan 56mm and have been very satisfied with it. The sharpness is beyond my expectations. I believe it’s the most cost-effective 56mm lens on the market.

I like 33 to 35mm for APSC. Every time I’ve tried 50mm I get frustrated by the tight field of view (eq 75mm). My favorite is the Laowa 33mm f0.95 but it doesn’t have autofocus.
@Marchelo19884 ай бұрын
Well, considering corner sharpness might not be the most important thing for portraits and that you shouldn't shoot straight into the sun either if not for specific artistic reasons, and that portrait lenses maybe are not ideal for most cinematic shots... this lens sounds like a very good deal for most use cases!

My favorite focal length on my A6300: 35 mm (= ~52mm full frame). Sadly I´ve to rely on stabilized lenses with my A6300 (six years old now). Chose Sony SEL 35/1.8 - which has a major flaw. It is not sharp at all, even stopped down to f/4

It is pretty crazy how good and cheap lenses have gotten over the last few years, and even if bodies are typically getting more expensive lol, it still helps democratize the art. After over 15 years I recently moved to mirrorless and it's amazing the options you have, especially with adapting vintage lenses, compared to DSLR's. I picked up the TTA for $124 last time it was on sale and I really like it, especially the rendering, and think it's very hard to beat for that price... the Viltrox 56 is also optically better and sharper across the frame, but it has a terrible real MFD arguably worse bokeh, etc... so it's a give and take and will come down to what you shoot, but for me it just ultimately wasn't worth 25% more. And for portraits the TTA is more than sharp enough wide open, frankly even too sharp at times for skin texture lol, as I also did some simple paid headshot work with it and it didn't let me down. Though yeah I wouldn't really consider it or any similar third party lenses if you are a working professional.

Sigma contemporary lenses are hard to beat on APS-c. For some camera systems, they are better than the native lenses. For others, less expensive. The Sigma primes turned my Canon M3 camera from a paperweight into a tool (back in the day).

Thank you. For my A6700 my two portrait lenses are the Sigma 56/1.4 DC DN that I found used in mint condition and the Viltrox 75/1.2 Pro but that is bigger and heavier but not anything like a FE 135/1.8 GM. Always appreciate your reviews but admit my lens collection is over subscribed so not sure I need anymore glass except that I suffer from G.A.S. Have eight APS-C lenses even though I shoot full frame as well. Take care.

50-56mm is very popular range Personally I would squeeze as much as I can for Sigma 56mm, even 2nd-hand is fine, and be done. Sigma also maintains its value better, you can resell it if you need money. But who know, sometimes money is really tight, this TTartisan might be the way.

Seems strange to target a 1.8 f-stop when there are already so many around that aperture. Might have been better to have gone with an auto F1.2 or even F0.95 and make it unique and special.
@TeohLieongChuan3 ай бұрын
that will bump up the price substantially
@pixxelpusher3 ай бұрын
@@TeohLieongChuan If there's a market for it then that wouldn't matter too much. Another F1.8 isn't interesting when that target is already catered to and there's so many already available. An auto F1.2 or even F0.95 would be setting them out from the pack and they would get sales for being the only one doing it.

Chinese manufacturing and labor cost are way lower than in Japan or the West, but their capabilities catch up, so you see high quality at price levels that is impossible to recreate in industralized countries.
