320 is my fav to shape and remove all the dirt. After all I use the 600 and then nova points to start polishing. Nice colors btw ❤

My friend. I cannot tell you how much your videos have helped me. Seriously I would just destroy kilo after kilo of boulder without this information. Thank you

Thanks for that! You've probably seen my setup and know that i go straight from an electroplated cutting disc to sand paper. Sounds nuts but it works. I have, however been considering whether i need to add a sintered bit to my arsenal... re contamination, if you start at 1k sand paper like i do, the process is slow and contamination is less of a worry. My major issue is losing patience and kicking it up a grade before i should... so if there's contamination it probably helps!...

Hey Dr. Fill, sorry for my late response, I just noticed I had not read your message. Hope you are doing well. I think we all understand there are so many ways to cut an opal, its the result that matters. If cutting professionally, time is a factor but I will not compromise on the finish. Rough shaping, use whatever you are comfortable with but for me sanding is crucial. I suggest you try some quality coarser grades of silicon carbide paper, for me #180 - #600, to bring it into shape quickly. I don't go finer than #800, its got to be a good stone, I love the finish of my #600 paper then I polish. I need a sintered diamond bur for boulder. They last a long time. Maybe you are not carving or have the need.

@diverseopalproducts I get it- following up is hard... I start at 800 sand paper if I'm going coarse I'll just sit there with very light pressure and let the stone become awesome... presuming I'm patient! I'm happy to finish on 5k unless it's boulder in which case it only responds to lower grades- I think that's what you are referring to

great video. I love that stone. I agree that sintered burrs are indeed indispensable and worth the price difference from electroplated burrs.

Thanks for watching. Just noticed I had not read your comment. Yes, I have sintered diamond burs that are 15+ years old that I bought from a cutter who became too ill to work any more. Its a small price to pay for years of service.

it's interesting that these are European made but there's not a single seller in Europe who sells them😂 I live in Germany and have been searching for a European seller for ages bc the shipping rates are way too high if I order from Australia or the US...

Thank you for your comments. I did some checking with exchange rates. Depending on the burs, we can offer them for an approximate price of between 29-35 Euro and freight would be an approximate price of 15 Euro.
