Me thinks it's their sound system, but it is speculation at the end of the day. Strange though, because they have been listening to quite a bit of metal, so I'd expect their sound system to be top notch to hear all that. Then again, their statement does not seem to be matching what we're hearing. Really don't get it either.

Interesting perspective. This has got to be the first time that someone rejects the live and wants the studio version. In fact, it kind of makes me wonder what their sound system is like to cause them not to hear all the instruments clearly. Intriguing. Reminds me of that question "Is my red the same as your red?". Anyway, I do hope they turn their attention to the studio version. Then again, if their sound system can't pick out what's going on in the live version, I don't know what they would hear in the Official MV. Hope it works out and they can catch what's going on clearly.

The guy has pretty good headphones. Kay has earbuds, so, the bass frequencies may be lost there. I kind of agree with them on this one, though. If I would hear this song for the first time in my life like this, I would probably be lost as well. I know it 'cause it happened a few times to me, when BAND-MAID played live a new song, the one I've never heard before. It often sounds like a total mess because BAND-MAID's music is multi-layered and complicated. For me, it takes those proverbial seven listens to sort it out in my head. Also, the studio version of DOMINATION allows me to hear Akane's kick drum much clearer than here. And for me it's important, I love to listen to what she's doing on her kick drum.

And a thing about the maid outfits, Play with Kay: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

(Listening to Band Maid right now would just bring it all back, and would be analogous to pouring a bag of salt on my wound).

Great band, the bass solo is amazing how she switches from slap to playing lead with the pick and her lead playing while both guitars are playing together is awesome, very dynamic arrangement too I don't think it is "distorted mess", that's just how distorted guitar and bass sound like lol maybe the mix isn't the best in this live in particular but it's good enough to tell what each instrument is doing, still for me the live versions are always better no matter who the artist is

I normally don't like live audio either, but in my headphones (same as yours, looks like), this is an incredible live recording - so much more clear than many other bands. The only "muffled" section for me is when both guitarists are shredding together... But it does sound muddy in your video, which makes me think there's a hardware issue somewhere.

I was listening to the studio version on headphones last night, and you CANNOT BELIEVE how much intricacy is going on instrumentally and production- wise. (The visuals are pretty brilliant too.) Fans recommend the lives because of the energy and the change-ups from the studio versions. Which is Band-Maid personified, one song can be appreciated in multiple ways.

You have opened the floodgates. They may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative band since the Beatles. (Yes, I stand by that statement!) You are going to get a lot of suggestions. First, a little background on the band: Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 Kanami Tono - Lead guitar, Main composer and arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual shred. The band was struggling early on, and in 2014, even as the label was considering dropping them, they posted the music video for “Thrill” which went viral globally. When they realized what was going on, it gave them the momentum to forge ahead, and they have now done multiple tours of Europe and the U.S. and are building a global fanbase who call themselves the Maidiacs. They have released seven full albums, as well as several EPs, singles and music videos. They have put out around 170 songs, covering a wide variety of styles and sounds, without any duds. They combine a punk vibe with instrumental virtuosity (two things that are often seen as being incompatible), and have done some amazing progressive-rock songs with a metal edge to them. They toured the U.S. in 2022 and sold out 14 cities in less than 48 hours. They followed it up with a 2023 tour which had to be expanded from their original plans. Their fan base skews heavily to actual practicing musicians. Some of those followed the band to multiple dates and documented everything on youtube-some of the footage is hilarious. I’ve seen them three times (2019, 2022 and 2023) and their shows are truly life-reaffirming. So far no announcements of another European tour but it seems likely in 2024. 'There's a lot going on' , you have no idea lol. Domination is fairly simple and straightforward compared to many of their songs. If you want to try more then I suggest Manners / Black Hole live, Manners is a groovy, bluesy tune and Black Hole is mad and you can justifiably say 'there's a lot going on' in that one. Although live those are from an online concert during covid so no audience to distract you.

Band Maid is the best thing going.....try the Live version of Puzzle, No God, Manners / Black Hole.. the mix on those songs are a bit better... I have seen Band Maid 4 times and their sound guy tends to even out all the interments but he is getting better at bringing the spotlighted instrument up in the mix be it bass, guitar , or vocal.... you should definatly check out Puzzle live...its a great mix...

Thanks for checking them out. Yes they can be a bit overwhelming at first but it does give them a lot of replayability as you pick things out. Their concerts are a blast. I think you would really enjoy the MVs for Choose Me, Dice and Blooming. 3 of their signature songs.

excellent band, in recent years many talented female metal bands have been coming out of Japan, but my favorites are Lovebites, can you react to them too? From their appearance you wouldn't think so, their sweet and smiling faces and their elegant white and gold clothes are deceiving, because when they play they are war machines, pure power and adrenaline, especially live they sound great, their style of sound reminds me a lot of 80's heavy, power and trash metal of the most glorious bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, dragonforce and many other bands of that golden period

With a bit more practice, you'll find it much easier to pick out the instruments - it may be in part because they're so tight, there isn't the slightly out of time thing groups often have, that makes it easier to pick the instruments out.

Welcome down the rabbit hole. The studio version of Domination is Olay but I think live is better IMO. Other live videos tocheck out would be Hate, No God, Puzzle, and Play. But if you have to have studio songs then Warning, Dice, Choose Me or Shambles are solid picks. And funny you should mention mosh pits because some fans tried to start one at a U.S. show and they were politely asked to stop because Band-Maid isn't that kind of band.

OK first of all never ever pause or talk while kanami is speaking ( minchos solo ) it's the unwritten rule and you have to understand the they are the living legends known as band maid they consist of a pigeon a queen a princess that goes by mincho a gorilla and a barefoot assassin the greatest rock band on the planet right now and they are only getting better boy I sure hope you can take the heat cause it's coming better get your ears check this song rocked if you would have paid more attention to the song rather than your beautiful cat at least your better half gets it this inst good music it's great music they have many studio mv's but to say you like good music and to prove you wrong I guarantee you are gonna eat those word you're probably a Celine dion fan

Have to realize this is the first time we've ever heard them and its a live recording. We aren't going to catch everything on the first listen.

The mix of this live performance is well known for not being their best. Others are more clear, like Zepp Tokyo (e.g. Onset Live from their official channel), and from the newer ones the Yokohama may be their best yet. I love this live performance, but a lot of details in the guitars go missing in this mix.

@@froopax1468I went back and compared, and you are right. The sound in this reaction is a bit more muffled. The sum of both does make it even harder to differentiate the sounds then.
