These Hand-Tied Lures are DYNAMITE on Flathead | Lure Fishing the Swan River

Hey guys, I am staying in Mandurah for the long weekend and looking to target some bream. Any tips or pointers? Using some lures that I picked up from you guys last week.

The canal bream there can be super cagey, so a finesse approach might be needed. Light leaders and lures such as lightly weighted plastics or mussel vibes would be a good start.

Alright thanks, I have those lures and have been successful on the bream in the swan with both. I think I might give the Murray or serpentine rivers a go though instead of the canals because I was told in the store last week that the breaming will be easier there then in the canals.

I wanted to go around this afternoon,but it’s always pretty windy in Claremont jetty , do you think that it’s fine if I go around 3 ?

Claremont is quite exposed to the afternoon south-westerly, but there are fish there at all times.

You can catch flatties at all times of the day, including sunrise, sunset and even night-time.

When is flathead season finishing,?I fished all the morning today but caught nothing,asked a few guys if they caught anything ,they said that flatty season is finishing and there aren’t flatties anymore…?

There’s still plenty around! The season is starting to slow but they are still worth fishing for until around late April.

Worth trying any jetties in the lower reaches, or any areas where you can access dropoffs easily.
