My hot take: Embiid aint winning a ring in Philly. That man chose USA for the Olympics over his birth country and Wemby. Embiid doesn't just want a super team, he wants the smoothest path to the finals and he won't achieve that if he's in the same conference as Denver. Embiid wants to join Tatum and the Celtics.

The overflow of talent is the reason why expectations is high for such a young age. Brown, Tatum, Luka, and company are that talented that they are expected to be able to carry their teams to the promise land. Nobody can say theyre still young and just appreciate their game without also saying they shouldve been champs by now because of their talent.
@GenusMusic7 ай бұрын
But the thing is there are more players you can way that about than years most of these players even had a chance. We say they aren't meeting expectations because they lost, but if they win we would just say the same thing about every other team who lost. Take 1. I dont agree. Tatum isnt elevating his game in the PO like true Superstars, but he also isnt like Embiid or Harden, who constantly play way worse in the PO. He is basically the same player in the reg season and PO. Take 2: Isnt PG the prototype since... forever? 6'7 wing who can handle the ball, playmake, score, play great defense... Anyone remember Pippen? Take 3: Well Top 3 you hope to get at least a true 2nd option Allstar... not an elite role player. So no, they are not uderrated. Not if better players were picked later in the draft. Take 4: Probably, cause bigs had to do less back then. Specially not defending in space or in a lot of P&R situations. So yeah, I think its true. Take 5: Thats true for elite talents, not for most role players. You cant get taller, you cant get way more athletic, you cant learn to see the game the same way Luka or Jokic do. Either you have those things, or you dont. Take 6: I think its true. The east is very weak this year. There is just no team on their level. Next season? Healthy Knicks, healthy 76ers, Orlando will get better and have PO experience... This year is by far the best shot. Not to mention that the Celtics will be in cap hell very soon. Take 7: I would love a World vs US match. US would have the depth, the world would have the top talents (SGA/Luka/Giannis/Jokic) Take 8: To be honest, that is a real possibility. The Nuggets are one starter ankle sprain away from having real problems, cause the bench is thin as hell. Take 9: lol... thats funny! Take 10: Well, thats hard to evaluate. Compared to Harden/Westbrook/CP3 Buttler can allways get into a different gear in the PO. But he isnt that great in getting his team there. Means he cruises to much in the reg Season. Depends what you value more. Take 11: Yes, Jokic would be better then KD and Giannis. Easy as that! KD needed 2-3 more Allstars to win 2 titles, Jokic wouldve won 2 titles without a 2nd Allstar. Probably 3 reg Season MVP's vs 1 (KD) or 2 (Giannis). Take 11: He could. But he shouldnt. It would lower his career averages and wouldnt ad anything to his legacy. I think 1, maybe 2 more years, thats it. Take 12: That is a strange comparison... How about if you change Luka and Tatum, do the Mavs reach the PO, and could the Celtics go for the all time win record? That "what if" makes more sense for me. Take 13: Depends... I think he can if his co stars would average 20/18/16 points with consistency (like Jokic has). But Dallas never had that. Take 14: Anyone should be allowed... but noone should listen to morons like Arenas, or thugs like Draymond. Sadly there are to many casuals out there who just need their daily fix of stupid discussions.

you can’t make that argument for Jimmy over any of those players, Jimmy has never been an MVP-level caliber player at any point in his career, whereas Russ, Harden, and CP3 were all consensus top five players in basketball at their peaks, Harden and CP3 even breaking the top three barrier. Jimmy winning a ring will definitely move him up the ladder, but he’s VERY FAR from a top 30-40 player ever, which all three of those players are. ring culture has fried NBA discourse so badly that people unironically believe that a take like this is even close to palpable.

Hot Take: Embiid will no longer be the same player that he's been by the start of next season because of his meniscus injury and him being to out of shape from sitting out to many games in the 1st half of this season and I predict he will do the exact same thing as what Harden did in Houston and that is force his way out of Philly by requesting a trade this Off-season then when Darryl Morey refuses to try and trade him he will quit and have bad body language on the floor at the start of next season until Darryl Morey trades him.

Jalen Brown is the key piece for the Celtics making the Finals
@phillipbell43947 ай бұрын
My hot take is that the Celtics should run it back indefinitely Stockton and Malone style. Say they trade Brown. There isn't a trade that makes them better. Maybe they had their chance with Dame, but we see him on the Bucks right now. Aside from the Nuggets (and the Heat), no team is one their level. They went to 6 games in the finals, and straight up looked like the better team for a lot of it. Since then, they have added Porzingus and Jrue Holiday. I suppose you could blow it up for picks, but you're gambling on having a better roster in the future while your team is historically great. It just makes a lot more sense to be stable so that even if they can't compete in the west, if they're always either in the conference finals or finals, the second someone else slips up, that's a ring. This is literally what the Spurs did in the 2000s and it worked.
