Bismuth is a metal that can look like crystals iirc Edit: You can melt the bismuth in a pan and after the oxidation starts to begin at the surface of the liquid metal crystals start to form, and those crystals are what the tears look like.

to be fair mods are rarely not paired with EID, so is more common for modded items to be that crazy cus it can rely on you having the most popular mod in the workshop (reason why it will not die after the item descriptions are added to the base game). as for the base game items, it has been an issue since ever and that's why we are finally getting item descriptions added into the game

I think the bismuth tears are supposed to look like little bismuth crystals. The crystals are pretty cool looking, especially since they rapidly oxidize in air, resulting in a rainbow oxide coating :)
