What do 1 euro homes and an elevator have in common? ... I had no idea until I visited Sambuca of Sicily to see their 2 euro homes. In this video we meet the people who bought a 1 euro home in Sambuca of Sicily and see their project results.
The difference between Sambuca of Sicily's homes and other community's is that they are being auctioned off and not sold to the first buyer that passes. It makes you wonder.. what is someone willing to pay for a property in these conditions?
If you haven't seen this video • I'm buying a 1 euro ho... you might want to. In it, I share why I am buying in Sambuca, and as part of that, there will be a way for each of you to get involved if you so choose.

I think investing 200k euros in sambuca for a renovation is losing 200k euros... unless you really have family ties to the place. But i guess most people buying 1 euro homes are europeans from France, Belgium, uk, germany Who want a sunny home vacation. And with such budget i think you can buy in a place where the house will keep its value. I myself own a family house in spain in a small village with my brothers but we all think renovating it is a waste of money as then it s close to impossible to resell. (And we live far also) hope this helps

It depends on the point of view. If u live in a big city, with 200k € u are able to buy a flat with 2 rooms plus a bathroom.. so ...
@kingofmambo

@@giampieroienna7428 yes much better deal. When you buy a 1 euro home, you know it s not a business and you will not make a profit but the cost of renovation should not be more than 30 or 40k so it s still a good deal. And normally you should not be too far (max 2 hours) so you can enjoy your home. This couple of Belgium moved there i guess.

It is definitely about perspective and situation. A lot of people i speak with that have bought on small towns never mention that their hope is to retain their investment.. they are 100% focused on the value of their quality of life instead. The people interviewed in this video aren't scraping by for sure which to me indicates smart investment decisions. But not everything has to be based on the dollar value.. i would hope some attention would be placed on quality of life as with these examples. I understand your interest in making wise investment decisions. I hope one day even small villages like this can become good investment decisions

Agree with you DauVO, really grateful to you for sharing all the costs involved and perspectives from these trailblazers. U r playing a big part in generating and sustaining interests in these depopulated villages in Italy. I come from a city that has very little space and I think ppl would love to come visit such magnificent villages.

I absolutely loved this video, as you've done a nice sampling of various houses in Sambuca ... I'm a bit biased as the house that I liked the best, was Mine !! :-) thank you for doing that walkthrough with Margherita. And putting it in this post. But having had a look now at how Martin's & Massoud's projects have turned out - I sure wouldn't mind having an elevator installed !!! how cool was that.

Hi DauvO, thank you for sharing content like this. I'm a SoCal girl dreaming of renovating a farmhouse near Torino. Your videos give me an insider look at what locations I can see myself living in. My big concern with small towns like this is access to a hospital. Other than that, I wouldn't mind a gorgeous small town environment.
@DauvO
@DauvO 2 жыл бұрын
I understand. How close should the hospital be to be considered accessible?
@josephweisman7981
@josephweisman7981 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure there's a hospital or even two in Siacca . It's only about 20 min. by car from Sambuca

@@DauvO For emergency type care, I would say any minute counts, so the closer the better. I would personally feel relaxed being within a 10 minute drive max. For urgent care, routine checkups, and specialty offices, I would drive 30 minutes.

This is a lovely town. I passed through here to check it out on my last visit in 2019. Margarite came to meet me and gave me a quick intro and a peek at one property. I believe this town is a great example of how to do renovating an Italian ruin right. They are also very good at reinvesting in the infrastructure for the existing and future residents. My only regret is that it is not in the area of Sicily where I would like to retire.

What is the general cost of an elevator, and what are the construction challenges? What kind of clearance do you need? Is it a rail that lifts from the roof or plunger with pit in ground, something else? her aging in place concern is relatable.

Looking at these small villages i have to wonder where sewerage goes. Do they treat sanitary sewer or is it just emptied into lagoon systems or the nearest stream?
