It's unclear exactly why, historians can't seem to agree due to how very little evidence exists for any of the proposed theories. One common one tho is that it's a bastardization of "Joli Rouge" or "Pretty Red" in french since pirates prior to the popularization of the classic Jolly Roger used to fly an entirely red flag whenever they would threaten to go all out and kill everyone on the ship. It's possible the name stuck and later got used for all kinds of pirate flags, that's something that tends to happen pretty often in etymology.

I think Oda actually explained some of the legends around it in an early SBS. Because there are multiple theories about why it's called that, but no definitive answer I think.

You're correct in guessing that the One Piece has not yet been found in the series in spite of the fact that the manga is currently at 1093 chapters, but the creator of the series, Oda Eichiro, has said in interviews that the One Piece IS real and that it is an actual tangible thing, not some idea or concept like friendship. There are all sorts of theories in the fandom of what the One Piece actually is. Oh. And the snails are called denden mushi or "transponder snails." They are snails that are able to telepathically communicate with each other and repeat what the snail at the other end hears. They're used like telephones in the One Piece world.

Seeing people with zero frame of reference react to this LA is my new favorite thing, the core of the story is there and I hope more people watch the anime and read the manga as well after seeing this LA. Yes nearly 1100 episodes and counting (1092 Chapter to date) is crazy to think about as a commitment, but the journey is every bit worth it and will generate years of content if one isn't trying to skip to current as quickly as possible.

Being even partially submerged in any water drains a devil fruit user's strength. They are paralyzed when they fall into the ocean. So, nobody who eats a devil fruit can swim, even if they're a Fishman.

technically it's also not just loosing the ability to swim...it's just that you become very weak (as we saw in this ep when both Buggy & Luffy were crawling on land cause they were dreched in sea water) MAKING YOU unable to swim

This isn't a spoiler but shanks didn't use a devil fruit to scare off the sea beast, we know this because he swam there in order to get luffy, this was more clear in the anime since there was no boat, they were just in the water, i believe they used a boat cuz it would be easier to film

seawater is take devil fruit user powers. not abilities - luffy will stretch if anyone else pull him for example - but his strength. so they barely can move in water. that why buggy crowl to map when soaked with water from broken tank. this moment explained in cut scene near episode 7-8 of live adaptation. not like this take big role in current events, and maybe will be explain latter, but help to understand few moments.

Nah, shere we are in the story, we can infer things about the treasure, even if we don't know what it is. For example, if someone has a box and says whats inside can fix your house, based on conversations you might have had with that person, you might be able to guess what it could be used for, specifically, even if you're not entirely certain what's inside.

Oda said in a sort of interview that the One Piece is not a metaphor, the friends we made along the way or anything like that, it exists and it is tangible. That being said it's probably not a traditional treasure for sure xD Also at least at the time of him saving Luffy, Shanks did not have a devil fruit (that's not a spoiler, we would already know that since we know the Fruit's weakness). The boat is an addition from the live action, most likely for practical purposes, but in the manga and anime, Shanks just swam from the coast to save Luffy. If he had a fruit, he wouldn't have been able to swim from there as a devil fruit not only causes the sea to take away your strength but it also make you sink.

Luffy is always getting "Buggy's" name wrong. I'm not sure if it is intentional or if he's just that about confusing the names of some people. The Devil Fruit situation is very confusing. It is said that they are very rare, however, every time you turn around in the anime you come across someone else who has eaten a devil fruit.

Spoilers..... !) . Buggy hated shanks cuz he has an inferiority complex, but he truly treats him as a friend. He asked shanks to create their own crew after their old crew got abolished and asked shanks to lead him to the one piece, but shanks said ge doesnt want to go after the one piece and just live a life like a pirate., buggy was furious and felt betrayed he trusted shanks and let go of his pride but shanks is not a big dreamer at that moment in time.
