Maddison you should do a deep dive into this phenomenon because in the 90s/early 2000s this would happen all the time! Like there would be a big movie and then a knock off movie would come out. I think this is why we remember there being to Shazam movies, one with Shaq and one with sinbad

I found this channel while looking for sequel, I agree they are fairly distinct movies though similar plot. I liked first daughter more but one part I thought dud not make sense and is funny is that she leaves in the car, but Mia is still at the party . Would have made more sense to have Mia waiting with the keys for a roadtrip;)

I liked both movies but it always bothered me how the dad responds to her finding out in presidents daughter. In chasing liberty the dad feels more remorseful not to mention that anna is alone in europe and does get into trouble multiple times so the lie is at least slightly more forgivable. However in first daughter the dad doesn't even apologize and when she's pouty at an event and understandably angry the dad makes it all about him and tells her she needs to do better in supporting him even though he has YET TO APOLOGIZE! I don't know it always bothered me and had me leaving the movie angry.

I've been saying this for years lmaooo. I watched both films in the same couple of days somewhere in the 2000s. I had no idea what Chasing Liberty was gonna be about nd then I was like hang on a minute.... Did I just watch the same movie in a row??? I felt the same bout The Time Traveler's wife and About Time... like they made the same movie twice.. with the same actress and everything like why... ....???

First daughter was better I think for a storybook romantic movie/ending, Chasing Liberty was a fun upbeat movie with a great soundtrack. First daughter tried some rebelliousness whereas Chasing Liberty was rebelliousness. Both were very fun to watch, and Katie Holmes and Mandy Moore are both gorgeous! Eye candy for both genders with the love interests.🙃

First Daughter was a lot more enjoyable to me personally, over Chasing Liberty. Even though I love Mandy Moore, her character annoyed me so much haha. Plus I just liked the romance more in First Daughter 🤷‍♀️

i watched both before this and james is def a more believable secret service agent. i didnt feel the chemistry w sam and james like i did w anna and ben though. like the scene at the camp?? loved that and liked the ending more idk first daughter just didnt do it for me
