I've had the opposite experiences, for the most part. In a long series of events that involves my father having a minor noble title (nothing fancy, we aren't exactly Windsors over here if you get what I mean) I ended up being the "middle class dude at a posh school", and the people there could not have been nicer. I had to actually ask them to stop buying me stuff, because they were out of touch enough to assume I was "poor" (I'm firmly middle class, nowhere near), but instead of them deciding to bully me over it they just insisted on covering every time we went out for lunch of whatever. I had one dude offer to pay my board! I'm not gonna say it wasn't a bit patronizing - imagine people assuming you can't afford to pay at Nando's because your dad isn't in politics - but also, it was really nice of them.

I grew up as a semi-rich kid... but I was't always fortunate and privileged like I am now. I was lower middle class until about 7th grade and now I'm in college. I spent half of my life coupon clipping with my mom and popping aluminum can lids off to take in for a few dollars and the other half not having to worry about college... my parents raised me right and I wasn't born with a silver spoon up my ass. I have never understood nor will understand people in my current tax bracket... The first time I started hanging out with the other 'rich' kids at my high school was my last and I am so thankful for that choice.

Most expensive thing I own is my car, a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. My grandpa helped pay for a lot of it after I helped him move between his old house and his new one and I also helped him with yard work too. Most expensive thing I ever bought with my own money was probably my Nintendo Switch tbh. I don't really buy a lot of things and save my money when I can. My school is in an area with a lot of rich kids, so I see luxury and sports cars in the lot often. They're annoying, but I have to tolerate them and only have one semester to go Edit: also to add on, people who only care about money and material possessions are almost never truly happy on the inside, because the only way they accept themselves is if they fit on top of society and not with society, so they can't make real friends and enjoy legit experiences like other people can.

The most expensive thing i own is my mountain bike, and by a long shot Its a Canyon Sender CFR, which is around 5.000€ base. added to that is a Fox factory 29" fork, which is another 2k, to that comes a Fox Float X2 shock, which is also around 700. Then a lot of smaller stuff around the bike for added about 300-500 and a fox XX1 Eagle drivetrain cassete set, for also around 1.2k So in total my Mountainbike is worth 9.2-9.5k, but i would tend to the higher side, as i have a lot of random upgrades on it i didnt count here, like carbon spacers, replaced rims and stuff like that. It is definetly my most expensive posession and my most treasured one. I build this bike of the past year or so and i am super happy with it, and i cant wait for summer this year to ride again!
