One interaction with Cull Obsidian that I think a lot of people have missed is that he has an Ongoing effect, meaning that you can play him in a Sauron deck pretty effectively.

The ongoing effect is only that he cannot be destroyed, so you'd still be limited to playing him with an infinity stone

@@2121Rampage the way I understand it, Sauron essentially wipes the text of any card with an Ongoing ability, so the Infinity Stone requirement should also be wiped. I could be wrong but that's how I understand it based on the wording of Sauron's ability

They mentioned in the update notes with the change to Thanos' Mind Stone to draw 1-cost instead of specifically an Infinity Stone that they've got plans for a future card that can generate random infinity stones for you, which could allow Cull Obsidian to be played in non-Thanos decks.

The way I can see Corvus working best is in a hela/ghost rider deck, where you have a lot of 6 drops and 5 drops, so you can discard them to hela, or play them earlier yourself

Proxima Midnight is really good for discard because she can get into lanes that discard decks have trouble getting into. It’s also far more consistent than Wolverine because you’re almost always gonna have 0 power at the hard-to-reach location. It beats Silk, Jeff+Nightcrawler, and Doctor Doom.

About black dwarf, they said in the patch notes that the reason they ”nerfed” the mind stone is because they will introduce effects that will give you infinity stones (for example a new location) - not saying that will be reliable enough for black dwarf but it’s not entirely parasitical

You can do the SuperGiant+ Alioth combo from turn 4. And destroy 3 turns of play in one lane. I think she is broken and might need to only work the next turn and not the one she is played in.

I think corvus will work in a ramp deck, they usually only play one card per turn, so losing a couple cards isn't that bad - probably worth it to make your draws more consistent.

The only immediately apparent use for that extra Max Energy would be the possibility of playing an extra card to make the discard mechanic reliable. Basically Apoc isn't your right most card, but because of of that energy, you can your right most card along with Blade, making Apoc the right most card when the reveals go off.

Agree with your point regarding Corvis as I had the same thought occur: how many times do you need more energy to play more cards to discard in one turn? Perhaps it’s setting the table for cards down the road.

hey super strange, seems unbelievably unnecessary, why would one play Corvus above gambit or moon knight over just 1 energy. seems like a card that just isn't going to get play. Rather play hell cow. unless you play super giant then hide your glaive behind it lay down your Dracula and glaive can double up discarding apocalypse twice oppose to hell cow only discarding it once. if that's the case it's a good card, if not its a shit hell cow.

Am I wrong to think that Supergiant's effect is way too much for a 1/2? If she goes down on turn 3 or 4 (especially with priority), she can shut down so many archetypes. She's a good Loki/WW counter, but she also counters Destroy, Bounce, Move, Sera, Lockdown, Moon Girl, Phoenix Force, Junk, Negative, Bolt/Stature, and probably more. And they just said in the patch notes that they didn't want low-cost cards to have powerful, global effects.

hey but discard doesn't have any 1 drops that benefit it as much as all the other builds. they will eventually change it to a 2/3 and it will just affect your side of the board maybe ( due to alight) I would imagine they will change alight to read ( on this turn)

Had the same thought with Corvus. If Helicarrier gave you specifically 3 random 6-cost cards it would have strong synergy but other than that I’m not too sure. Also keen to see if Black Swan will work with things like Stature or Miles Morales or any 2 cost cards with Sera on the board.

oh man black swan seems like its potential trouble... seems like it would make it pretty easy to lose priority and go crazy on the last turn without fear of something like killmonger completely undoing all your lil guys... cause even pair with that upcoming card want protects one drops so you have redundancy in keeping the 1 drops alive... kazoo looking like it might be real in the future.

If you play a big 3 drop on 3 and get priority then you can guarantee Alioth on 6. Play supergiant on 4 and it will stop any of your opponents cards from revealing keeping your priority. Nothing will reveal on 5 keeping your priority. And on 6 you guaranteed have priority.

Corvus Glaive is perfect fit for Hela-Agatha. If Agatha isn’t discarded, she’ll play herself on 5 and you can play Hela on 6!

Corvus Glaive's +1 energy allows discard to have a soft counter against Mobius strategies. A lot of cards in discard costs 4. If you didn't have MODOK you would be running Hellcow, getting 7 energy at turn 6 allows you to drop a 4 / 3 combo. That's my take.

it's pretty abysmal man, makes no sense to play him other than moon knight, gambit or hellcow. If you can lay down super giant, then glaive, then drac then glaive can prompt the same card twice hits apoc twice then it be good otherwise it's a shit hellcow with lower power stats.

Almost certainly not relevant but you can play Cull if you play Sauron since he has an ongoing he'll lose his entire effect. Something important about Proxima is that she's another good discard card that doesn't block Colleen from Swarm which is honestly kind of a superpower in that deck. Corvus seems exciting but after trying X-23 there I'm not confident discard can use the extra energy, especially after turn 3.

Can’t believe you missed the best child of discard and ramp! Black Knight!! He just got a buff and this would slot in amazingly to an InSheNaught Black Knight list! Play it on three and hope to discard your Infinaut or other big threat, otherwise if you don’t have it in hand just skip turn 4 and hope to hit infinaut by turn 5 and drop him right on the board. More lines to success for a deck I already think is pretty great.

With all the zoo support coming up in the next few months, I'm really hoping Firestar comes back in like March, because Black Swan could lead to some hyper fucking pop offs with Firestar. Just imagine. T1: Whatever. T2: Whatever. T3: Caiera T4: Black Swan + Something. T5: Dump out all the 1 drops you have, + hit monkey and maybe mysterio. End on Forge for the dream. T6: Firestar to give all the things you played the prior turn +5 power. B-b-b-b-busted.

Gambit description is: Discard a card from your hand to destroy a random enemy card. That reflects in game as "If you don't discard, Gambit won't destroy". Therefore, I assume Corvus Glaive works the same: "Discard 2 cards from your hand to get +1 Max Energy" So, if you don't discard 2 cards, you won't get +1 Max Energy. But what if I only have one card, will it be discarded even though I don't get extra energy? Or no card will be discarded at all? What are your predictions?

First question with Black Swan, does it discount the cards in your deck as well? I'm going to guess not as it doesn't say anywhere they are. If it is anywhere, I can see some very niche potential for Black Swan and Jane Foster, alongside Bishop and/or Hit Monkey as they'd be the only other cards to benefit from a lot of 1 cost plays on turn 6. Then again, another commenter suggested Werewolf which could see use before turn 6. Outside of that, I still feel it's only really useful in a Sunspot-She Hulk deck since you'd have to hold on to all those 1 cost cards to have a lot to play the turn after you play Black Swan. I guess Moon Girl could also come in handy for duplicating the 1 cost cards before you used Black Swan. Also, Thanos with the new change to Mind Stone could be wicked.

Supergiant would be my most anticipated card. I just love the idea of hiding my own plays with the chance of disrupting my opponent. I fear this card will become too frustrating to play against, however.

I mean yeah, he technically does. But Sauron already use Typhoid Mary as a 4/10 and She’s better than Obsidian since in the event where you are unable to remove the abilities Mary can at least still be played. At his best he’s just as good as Mary and at his worst he’s infinately worse than her (in Sauron decks specifically).
