Zombie is definitely a sort of jab at how far the P-IRA had gone by that point of the troubles, and being fed-up with how the conflict was effecting children, British and Irish alike. 'Its the same old theme, since 1916, in your head, in your head they're still fighting..." Referring to The 1916 Easter Rising that ultimately was the catalyst for the Irish War of Independence, the Irish Civil War, and eventually, spiralling into the Troubles in the North. There is a heck of a lot of history driven emotion packed into this song. A century of ongoing violence in different forms that spiralled out of control as the decades wore on. Also, side note, the type of vocalization used by Dolores here is something called Keening, and is a traditional way of mourning/grieving in Ireland. It has a deep historical/cultural significance and history and I think it's the cherry on the top of this amazing and emotionally charged song.

Or the "Paved paradise, put up a parking lot song because it sounds so happy, but the lyrics are about how we're slowly turning the planet into one huge parking lot with no trees. Or Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA; most people think it's a patriotic song, but it's actually a commentary about how an area is devastated when the local factory shuts down. Billy Joel's "Allentown" had a similar subject. Or even "Who Let the Dogs Out"; most think it's an innocent song about dogs, but it turns out the "dogs" in the lyrics are actually unattractive women in a club.

The Fastball song... for years, I imagined little kids left behind. At least, in reality the kids were actually grown. I still kinda liked the song as people yearning to escape the humdrum of reality, only dreaming and not actually leaving their kids. Knowing that they were both elderly, is sad, but also makes me hope they had that autonomy to go out their own way, and weren't actually confused, scared, and lost at the very end. Some elderly couples do make a pact at the end, and in my opinion, after you lived a full life, raised your kids, retired and in bad health, why stay and suffer because society says so? If you lived your life for nearly a century, then I believe you have the wisdom to do what you think is best for yourself.

You wanna' know another one that could've been on this list? "Don't Stand So Close To Me" by The Police. Lotta' introverts treat it like a theme song, but... It's actually about a teacher whose underage female student is suuuuuper thirsty for him, and secretly, he's kinda' into her, too. Whole song's about them growing more and more tempted by each other, and it ends before ever revealing whether or not anything actually ends up happening between them. The lyrics that the song is named for, are saying "Don't stand so close to me, we're out in public, people might start to talk..."

The song "My Way" became a genuine cursed song, as in it caused actual negative events, at a Kareoke bar in New York. i had no idea the meaning but know it as ufc star korean Zombie's walk out song and got emotional when it played one last time after his last fight when he retired

It doesn’t get more clear than these lyrics… With their tanks and their bombs And their bombs and their guns In your head, in your head, they are crying… Another mother's breaking Heart is taking over When the violence causes silence We must be mistaken It's the same old theme Since nineteen-sixteen In your head, in your head, they're still fighting With their tanks and their bombs And their bombs and their guns In your head, in your head, they are dying

Honestly the song could be about any war really although when it says 1960 I'm pretty sure it's referring to what happened with nam.
@digitalbath2636 ай бұрын
@@dr_dreadknought7165 it says 1916! Not 1960. 1916 was the start of the Irish Revolution

I can't believe someone referred to a song by Goo Goo Dolls as a "One Hit Wonder." They had so many great hits.

"Thanks" to all of the reactors for mocking the keening that Dolores was doing. Keening is a type of traditional Irish singing used to express sorrow for the death of people. The presenter should've hit all of them with that little bit of information so we could watch the reactors react to it after making fun of it.

These kids on here don't have to experience the turmoil and pain of The Troubles, or at the very least, have had the knowledge of them and knowing it was yet another example of imperialism at it's "finest". I may be from the US, but I have Irish cousins and friends, and the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s were so damn hard.

It actually hurts me how much they made fun of Dolores because of the way she sang. It's like making fun of kurt cobain because of how bad he sings. When them singing perfect isn't the point of their music. It's to bring emotions and have you feel way they want you to feel.

I agree, that kind of pissed me off actually. It's how she sings

I think Dolores was dressed as the Goddess Eiru in that video. Eiru is the Patron Goddess of Ireland in Celtic/Irish mythology. Eiru is also the Goddess of Peace. Ireland is named after Eiru.

Ring around the Rosie is about the plague, and was actually in the US before it came to England. It was written about how horrible the plague was. There were more lyrics that were printed in a book in the 1850s, but have been lost with time. It wasn’t written during the plague, and back then Ashes to ashes didn’t mean cremation. It meant death. That’s why they would say it at funerals. Also, the GOO GOO DOLLS ARE NOT ONE HIT WONDERS!! They are a great band!
