I’m glad to live in the UK where there was 0 risk of me never coming home from school and there will never be that risk for my children. Schools should be a safe place. Listening to the conversations they're having the night before, they don't even sound like teenagers. They sound like 9 year olds playing stupid and random games with their toys. The immaturity in their voices, the cadence in which they're speaking, the actual sound of their voices and the weird noises they're making - they really so sound like very young children who haven't learned how to regulate themselves at all. Considering they're 16, it honestly seems to me that they have learning deficiencies that are quite pronounced. Listening to this reminds me of what I overheard when my 11 year old plays with her friends and their toys. Obviously not the subject matter, but the stream of consciousness in the way their conversation is structured. The adults in their lives have failed completely. The only way they got to this point is because the adults responsible for them have consistently failed in addressing concerns and intervening and getting help with certain behaviours. Listening to them is actually so shocking and disgusting that it turns my stomach 😢

These cases make me angry. 32 years ago I was 15 and my clasmate was brutally murdered by a 16 year old former classmate. He got life in prison without parole and then the Supreme Court decided that was inhumane. 🤬 What is truly inhumane is knowing Beth was told "I could kill you right now" and then was. The pain she felt as her life was taken from her is what is inhumane. What is inhumane is every year we have to resign petitions and write the parole board and relive the horror of what was taken from this world. Beth was 15. That is how old my daughter is now. I look at her and see me at 15 and I see Beth at 15 and think "Jesus, we were f'ing babies still!" I was forced to grow up in a truly cruel way. These murderers took a life so they can pay with their life. That is not even truly justice for the REAL VICTIM, but it is at least something. The murders are NOT victims. They will never be victims. They made a choice.

I was in 10th grade when Columbine happened and there was a kid I talked with and he made a simple statement not a threat, not a plan of action he stated that “they could have done a lot more damage had they planned it right” I said yea I guess. To which he said well think about it if they’d have done A,B & C this way then it would have been much worse. I said yea I guess. I knew what he meant and he wasn’t the type of kid who does those things. Well someone overheard us talking and called us to the office. I didn’t see where he said anything wrong so when they asked what he said I told them, and they asked if I thought he was a threat and I told them I truly didn’t believe he was. Well they didn’t see things that way. They had the police come expelled him from school, had him arrested, and put a no trespassing order on him. I want to say he got like 6 months to a year in juvenile detention just for talking about what happened and how it could have been worse. Granted this was working weeks of the event but still it should have been taken much more serious when kids are actively planning it!!! Just my opinion!! And at 16 they planned and executed an innocent person after committing other crimes, they knew what they were doing and they absolutely deserve to be tried as adults and rot in jail for the rest of their lives!!

The conversation of horror/slasher movies causing real crime is very thought provoking. I agree that, at face value to the non-violent person, horror movies are media and entertainment. It’s scary seeing how to these boys, horror and slasher media was their template. It gave them the real ideas to use. I think that horrible dynamic only occurs in people who are pre-disposed to violence or wanting to harm others prior to watching the violent movie. I don’t think a healthy average person sees a slasher movie and that “awakens” something inside them then they go on to kill. Just my thoughts. It’s an interesting conversation. Rest in Peace, Cassie. This is senseless, and she deserves to be here today

In her recorded jail calls, she says that she knows expressing remorse will possibly lighten her sentence, but she falls back on her belief that she is so filled with the Holy Spirit, she obviously could not have done anything wrong and people just don't "understand." Then in the courtroom, she cries and apologizes and thanks the officers of the court that saved her children from her misguided belief system. (Which she privately still holds, but won't admit because then her true lack of remorse would be evident.) This is how I view Bryan and Torey; they revealed their authentic selves in their videos and their actions. Everything else is just an attempt to wiggle out of the consequences.

Enough with the "children" b.s., legally yes, but they were grown enough to plot, grown enough to drive...not like 8 year olds did this. Parents these days coddle kids (torie), when kids need discipline, NOT abuse, but discipline. I don't feel bad for them at all, they need to pay the price, although it will never bring Cassie back, or heal her family.

Your prison idea at the end... They actually have that in Norway. And maximum sentences are only 20 years.
