This is the second video I've seen of yours, coming through Ren recommendations. I don't know what you know about him, though you've seen Hi Ren. He has Lyme disease, an autoimmune illness, and it was misdiagnosed for years, so he went through all kinds of mental health issues, meaning he's also been on all kinds of medications trying to manage. The point I hear isn't about substance abuse, but about the struggle to feel normal and good when caught between your mood and the medication you're taking for your mood. And there is this often times well meaning placating from care providers, "Take this, you'll be fine", when in reality you might feel like a floating outline of yourself.

It's a original and he can do many genres and his voice can sound very different. Chalk outlines are the outlines that the police draws around a body, like you have maybe seen in crime films. It's about depression and the effect of pain medication. How it leaves you hollow, you can loose a lot of you character so you can be kind of dead inside, like the dead body inside the chalk outlines.

Genre; I'd class this as a rock ballad. I love your approach to hearing his stuff by seeking out what you want to hear. I think you're in for a lot of surprises if you already clocked the genre and style chameleon. Some of the beat driven tunes are done for the fun of it. But Ren always has something to say about something. 😂 The songs not really my cup of tea but it speaks to me having been medicated for depression.

I wouldn't have recommended this one yet, while it does show off their voices and the power of his writing (minimal lyrics with maximum meaning) I think it is a bit too deep in the Bard genre, if you have never experienced the 'chalk outline' feeling then the meaning of this won't really hit. 100% get the GF in for the reactions. Often they will have a more intuition/emotional connection/provide a different perspective and two reactions for the price of one is also good for your channel. :D I'd probably suggest trying out something less heavy on the Bard style next Rap tracks 1) "The hunger". If you understand Rap (From a technical/difficulty point of view) then most of Rapper reactors go mad due to the flow switches etc I don't really know much about rap so just going off the rappers reactions. 2) "Losing it" fun/interesting video technique (but still with some bits fast rapping in it) For the non rap genre I think one of these mashups might be something you'd like (still with some small rap parts) 1) "The Big Push - I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop"(Red Braces version) from his band ("the big push") so it's on the bands channel not Ren's. Mouse over to see the red braces in the preview play to get the right one. 2) "Ren - Back on 74 / Message In A Bottle (Live retake)" If you're still struggling with what the BardCore genre is then these might help, less emotional attachment needed to the subject, but still a some of his more popular videos. For the first one the GF (if you get her on) will need probably need a hug after though. 1) Tails of Jenny screech and violet (3 shorts in one, watch all three in the same reaction). 2) Money Game 1, 2, 3 (each a full song so three separate reactions) Those ones have the story telling but without the need for personal experience of the subject. After "Hi Ren" those are probably the two most "who is this guy" type of reactions and his most "know for" videos. Dam, meant to do a 1 line comment but ended up a wall of text again, sorry lol.

So, one thing you should remember is that Ren is a master story teller. This song is telling a story. Picture this: Chinchilla is a fragment of his psyche. That crackling is the sound to indicate that you can witness this internal personality
@_jdus13 күн бұрын
Contemporary pop huh 🤔
@Phazetic9910 күн бұрын
@@_jdus Yeah, I've thought about it and this song would probably be the best example from his library that would get radio play, and the only radio station that would play it is a pop station. The only thing holding it back from being played on the radio is that the message is super depressing and sad. Too many people are taking these anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medications today. Still, there are elements of this song that I hear from other pop artists, like Katy Perry and Daniel Powter
@Phazetic9910 күн бұрын
And I would like to expand on the crackling electricty sound and why I think it is indicating that we are going into his inner thoughs. In his song Hi Ren, he does essentially the same thing. Except instead of the electricity crackling it is his yodel that indicates that he has gone into his psyche. He yodels at the beginning and then we hear his internal dialogue. When he yodels at the end of the song, we exit that internal thoughts. Another song that he does this is Violet's Tale. When he does the descending time rewind on his guitar, and then the ascending sound to come back to present time of the story
