It wasn't safe to be a blood relative of the tudors.

It was dangerous to plot against the Tudors.

Excellent bit of history I never knew much about. Most history shows never go into the lives of the people who served royals. This was very enlightening. Thank you!

The Queen of Scots breaks my heart. Mary was a lady through and through no matter what they say. Thank you so much for telling the world of her. 🥀💐

Thank you for this one. Reports like these help me understand the people that are usually in the background

Very interesting. I believe she would beseech the queen of England quite sweetly, often and profusely swearing her fealty, innocence, and loyalty.. Yet she persisted in her treason..🤔

Jane Kennedy is a familiar name. I've read a lot of books on the history of many historical monarchs.

What did the Latin she said mean? I’m a recovering Catholic, and mass was said in English here, so I don’t understand the Latin. Love your videos! I highly recommend English translations for any Latin! Thanks for the awesome content!

I didn't know much about the 2️⃣ women of Mary's household. Thanks for that. But what I found interesting, and I already knew, was that Mary's little dog 🐕 had hidden in her skirts. I find that endearing.

Informative video, but it is dismaying to the extreme, that this page has succumbed to sensationalist, click bait titles. One is led to believe, by the title, the video will be about women who betrayed Mary, Queen of Scots; instead, it is about the gentle women who ACCOMPANIED Mary to her execution. A small, but significant difference that leads one to be suspicious of future titles. But we live in a world where sensationalism sells, and all that matters is the number of "likes" one receives from strangers.

If ancestry family trees are actually correct, I am a linear descendant of Jane Kennedy (her father is/maybe my direct grandfather).

I AM Jane Kennedy, named for my ancestor. According to my father Jane was extremely loyal to Queen Mary. Weird.

The first thing I'd do if I were a Tudor is Declare that I never want to be King or Queen of anything. I'd sign anything and everything stating such for me and my children. I don't understand anyone's want to be Royal, at that time. I'd much rather be a well off cousin.

It wouldn’t have mattered- in many cases, the issue wasn’t the person with the claim themselves it’s the fact that that person can be used as a figurehead by others to incite uprising & support. Take for example Edward Plantagenet (son of George, duke of Clarence). He was a child with very obvious special needs who had no idea about the crown, however just by being alive he was a threat to Henry Tudor’s reign because he was used as a figurehead. Additionally, if you were close enough in the line of succession that you could be used as a figurehead, there’s zero chance that the ruling monarch & their council would allow you to marry and have children-because male children could be used for attempted uprisings. Unless you were at the top, your blood would be a curse.

The problem would be if you had rivals or enemies who put the word around that you had said something bad about the king. Henry's last wife Katherine Parr nearly got the chop because somebody told him that she was a Lutheran. Papers were being prepared for her arrest and trial. Henry became very ill and needed her nursing skills in dressing his leg ulcers so it was put on hold. Lucky for her that Henry died and the case against her was dropped.

Mary definitely wanted to be Queen. When Elizabeth ascended the throne, Mary allowed herself to be called Queen of England when she was married to the Dauphin of France. However she dropped the title after her husband died and she went back to Scotland. To be fair English monarchs also styled themselves as Kings of France. However Mary’s making the claim was a direct challenge to Elizabeth’s right to the throne.

I would like to know more about them, did they exist?
@brontewcat2 жыл бұрын
@@franm.8343 Yes they definitely existed. Mary Seton, Mary Fleming, Mary Beaton and Mary Livingston. They all accompanied her to France as children, but only Mary Seton went to England with her. The others had married by that time. You can check Wikipedia for their stories.
