I'm no expert, but I always buy as much RAM and memory as I can afford. As you said it may not be noticeable immediately, but become limiting over time.

I bought the regular HD 8 and it seems to run COD mobile (multiplayer , brand new to the game, seems addicting) and GTA San Andreas without issue. Amazon extended its returns policy, so I have another month and a half to decide if I want to upgrade to the plus model (which I may do if the price goes down to 75 again), but so far, this seems to serve me well. I only have one game open at a time, so that could be part of why I’m fine with 2 gb. If someone were to want to do some serious multitasking between apps, I would say go for the plus.

Watching this video on hd 8 plus. I have heard so many complains about wireless charging, but with those little groves you don't have to find that sweet spot.

I went with the HD 8. I’m really happy with it so far, and wanted to get my mom one, so I picked her up the fire 7, because she’s going to be doing the same, just basic things like Hulu and Wordfeud.

Not worth it. The speakers are too quiet on the Fire HD 8 Plus, as I own one.

$20 for a RAM (and wireless charging) upgrade on an already inexpensive tablet, I say why not? Well OK, there’s also the dock, the 64GB versions and/or the ad free version to consider. But if you are already on a limited budget and already have amazon prime and thus access to the amazon ecosystem, the regular 8 with ads does come in different colors along side all the cost savings.
