Everything everyone of these characters has said has impacted me in such a huge way. I have to finish this show. There is no other show like it. The words, the bond, the music. It's captivating to a t. This is really humanity peeled back and examined like no other. Our weaknesses and strengths all in one blow.

I must be honest here.... This is... one of the most... stunning pieces I've ever seen. It is a masterpiece. You can feel the melancholy coming off the screen, the heartache, the tragedy. The unfairness of it all! Their rueful smiles are the barest reprieve. No video has ever made me react so fiercely (Read: openly sobbing) such as this. Thank you.
@AnaGraves007 жыл бұрын
Very good tribute! It shows the sadness and despair of the show, but there is still some hope shining through... "There will be battles we lose" - Sad thing is, every battle they had, even the victories, led them to ultimate losing... That's terribly depressing.

Most poetic penny dreadful video I've ever seen. I forgot this show had so many good lines "there are such sins at my back it would kill me to turn around", "if you seek to threaten me, threaten me with life", "oh my creator, why did you not make me of steel and stone, why did you allow me to feel". Really, perfect choice of music & moments

Now that our beloved PD has been pushed into an end in such an unsatisfactory way, I will try to deal with this tragedy, so that I can 'remember PD better than how it ended'...just as the last message in this video. In the midst of all it's darkness, PD was a story of how people never let go of hope even in the worst of times. A shed of a tear, an emotional hug, a fragile kiss, a confession of remorse were what made us sympathize and understand the characters as their struggles and sorrows were somehow similar to what we experience in real life. I'm appreciative to this video more than ever now, as I believe it grasped the true nature of each character. Even more than creator J.Logan or Showtime. BloodlessAgain, thank you once again for this. It's just about the only thing which can bring some comfort for me now.

WOW! Seriously impressed by the tribute. I've found a few decent ones for the show on KZbin, but none that are nearly on this level. All the right scenes at the right times, and what made the video were the perfect quotes and scenes from the show that you selected. The music flowed perfectly with the audio from the scenes (also happy you included the werewolf scene even for a second, not many have surprisingly). Really well done with showing the emotion and weight of it all. Can't wait for Season 2 next year! Liked and favorited! :)

I usually dont do reviews, or in this case reminders, about shows, but hey.. why not? Exactly 6 years ago „Penny Dreadful“ was released to a broader audience. The name of the show, look it up on Wiki, refers to „… the penny dreadfuls, a type of 19th-century British fiction publication with lurid and sensational subject matter.“ I grew up on a comparable, fantastic weekly, „Perry Rhodan“. Cheesy, loveable, over the top, never-ending Sci-Fi. The booklets are still a thing, running strong for almost 60 years. Why do I highlight „Penny Dreadful“? Out of all those shows so easily available to us? Because it had it all. A perfect mixture of entertainment, victorian style, literature, pulp fiction, acting as an art and raw fucking emotion. Most shows just have one or two of those ingredients. Lets pick it apart. Its not artsie, it follows the well known rules of TV entertainment. Dialog, conflict, tension, relationships and last minute cliffhangers. Collect your daily dose of dopamins. But then you start to wonder. The recreation of the period is meticulously done, down to the button on a dress. Then you spot the quotes from well known books which accually fit the plot. You are amused about the introduction of prototypical monsters like frankenstein, vampires, werewolfs, witches and Dorian Gray(!), … but always done in good taste, never making you feel ashamed for someone else. You stay put and make it to the episode „A Blade of Grass“ in season three. The intensity will make you forget about your TV-screen. It is theater level acting. Not enough to peek your interest? Stay with me. Modern TV-shows, in general, fail over the compromise to depict women realistically and empathically, but also make them the lead. They turn out either girly or manly. Vanessa is the antithesis to this. Strong, feminine to the bone, smart, an independent spirit, painfully bound to 19th century constrains. Indeed all characters are complex and falible. The message peaks in a subplot which explores the female realm of possibility instead of spamming dull, woke feminism so common these days, not only in cinema... Lily´s heartbreaking outburst in "Perpetual Night" will pull the rug under your feet. This one episode has done more for the cause of women than any #meetoo tweet ever could. I was already satisfied at this point. What else could happen? Well, .. there is more. I do believe that music makes or breaks a film. Just look at Star Wars, 40 years on. Episode 4 is nearly unwatchable in 2020, … but the soundtrack, damn baby, makes it relevant! The finale of „Penny Dreadful“ had one more surprise in store. The music is so important, and once the finale hit, it did so hard. One question remains. I´m wishing beyond reason at this point. But i would love to see a TV-show, or movie, of this quality based on „Perry Rhodan“ at some point. Maybe dreams do come true?
