I don't mind him having his opinion the opinion was consistent with each guy, for example he knocks Tua says he can't go higher because in his one playoff game he was bad in freezing cold v cheifs, yet dak is top eight and he shits the bed every playoffs he has a rookie 20 having never taken a snap but he needs to see more from guys like purdy, so really he's saying playing great in NFL isn't as important as being athletic😂. I do wonder if Simms is knocking purdy subconsciously because he knows Kyle is way smarter than himself so he has to justify that by giving Kyle all the credit because he dosnt like to think he's so far behind smart coaches so he justifies Kyle by being so far ahead of himself by telling himself Kyle's just that much better than every other coach lmao. Or maybe he's trying to help Kyle lowball purdy next year even though Kyle will pay Brock whatever it takes.

Purdy was the best QB in the NFL last season..and he performed at that level despite the 49ers oline ranking in the bottom of the league in terms of pass protection. Purdy exceptional anticipation and elite quickness within the pocket is why. Purdy is the best thing to happen to the 49ers since Eddie D hired Bill Walsh.

Chris Sims normally doesn’t make boneheaded comments. Ranking Purdy 17th based on his first two years is a world class boneheaded take. Compare his first two years numbers with the all time greats, much less Dak, Lawrence, Goff, Lamar, Russ, Josh Allen and Burrow. Purdy’s numbers are better than all of them in their first two years, and they also played on good teams. Purdy’s numbers are a little better than Herbert’s stellar numbers, and similar to Mahomes - after he sat for a year learning from Alex Smith, who really helped him. Purdy’s already Top Ten, and if year 3 is similar, he’s definitely Top Five.

You got to understand where this is coming from...but I hate the guy three days a year...home game, away game, playoffs. On the other days I like the guy...like watching him. He is a real gamer. He gets the entire picture. There have been other guys I hated for two or three days a year...Howie Long comes to mind. TLDR: Purdy sets the tone. The defense makes amends. The biggest sign for people that take an objective look is how HUGE a gap there is in passing attempts when comparing him to his peers. The fact he is QB1 in a balanced but run first (at least in the regular season😂) offense yet still has the yardage and deep ball metrics he does should carry more weight than the talking heads want a casual fan to know. When statistically a QB has a value of 9.9yds the moment he drops back it is a good indication of high percentile QB play.. that value of nearly a first down is completely independent of what defense its against or the play being run! Also I want to put in this comment my prediction on what will be overlooked by many. The footwork will be even more consistent. Purdy will have a bit more built in freedom for some quick hot reads. Kittle will have over 10 TDs . At least four 49ers will have at least 1000 yds receiving. Bosa and Floyd will have at least 25 sacks combined. Final note that I think will be felt will be that Purdy will leave zero doubt that its his offense and it will be quite clear the goal is to keep their foot on the opponents neck and not let off. Which unironically will lead to more rest for the starters because they get to be cheerleaders for a large number of 4th quarters. The defense will have multiple games in which they dont allow a touchdown with some actual shutouts this season.

Because those things tell you AAAAAAYYYYYLOT about a guy. Is he pushing/gently nudging everyone to get to as much team time as possible, is he working hard every rep, is he the guy the whole team silently turns and looks at when someone stands up and says"Hey! I remember when the 9ers picked Trey Lance, spending a ton of draft capital. It seems to me, all the commentators who loved that pick - some saying that it was a super bowl winning pick - seem to hate on Purdy. If that is an indication of their critical thinking, then I am glad they are hating on Purdy. I would worry if they liked him. I wonder how many of those commentators hold the passing record for an NFL team? None I suspect. And to all those commentators saying that any QB could put up numbers in the 49er system with the 49er weapons, then explain to me how many passing records were set by Jimmy and Trey? Oh, none?

They will find out how good he is when Pearsall and cowing flourishes with Aiyuk holding out to begin the season. Purdy is in the stage of his development where he is now experienced enough to elevate the players around him without his superstars. Just give him some talent and watch the new talent become supserstars. Pin this . And let come back here by week 8 My Hot take is Brock Purdy will be battling for the number 2 QB in the league behind Pat mahomes. Mahomes only has the superbowls to push him further ahead, but let’s not forget Mahomes first few years he had a super offense as well, with hill , Kelcey elite oline and all pro rbs in Kareem hunt and lesean McCoy. Not to mention they also had a decent Sammy Watkins and the next year the speedster hardman to start his career. A little premature but if purdy can some how manage to get 2 superbowls before mahomes can get 3-4 , then the conversation will begin with who is the best, Mahomes or Purdy??

There is still more levels to how good Brock Purdy's QB talent is going to progress in the coming years. Kyle Shanahan has dumbed-down Purdy's game in many respects, and has stunted Brock's growth as as a QB, by keeping Brock on training wheels. Kyle doesn't trust Purdy with more of his offense, because Kyle lacks the game management skills that would allow Purdy to use even more of his skillset. Kyle doesn't even trust Purdy to use an effective hard count, or call an audible at the line from time to time.

These stats do the best job at isolating QB play. “He can’t play without Deebo” 0.242 epa/play WITHOUT Deebo on the field which would rank 3rd in the league +6.18 CPOE WITHOUT Deebo On the field whch would rank 1st in the league “He can’t play without CMC” 0.4 EPA/Play without CMC on the field which would be first by an extremely wide margin +8.62 CPOE without CMC on the field which would rank first by an EXTREMELY wide margin “Jimmy G had success on the Niners too” Jimmy’s EPA/Play between 2017-2022 was graded at .209 which is way less than Brock’s 0.338. Jimmy’s Passer Rating from 2017-2022 is 97.05 which is 15.95 points less than Purdy’s 113 last season Jimmy’s TD% was 5.0 and Purdy’s is 7.0 Jimmy’s Y/A was 8.3 and Purdy’s is 9.6 Jimmy’s QBR was 55.71 and Purdy’s is 72.7 Jimmy’s CPOE was -0.725 and Purdys is +2.5 Jimmy’s PFF Grade averaged at 73.48 and Brock’s is 88.4 Jimmy’s Big Time Throw% was 2.98 from 2017-2022 and Purdys is 5.8 Jimmy’s Adjusted Comp% was 74.38 and Purdy’s is 78.3 Yes, Brock Purdy has a great system. Yes, Brock Purdy has great weapons. While these are all true, we have ways of isolating QB play & when we do we can see Brock is a great QB individually. If you dont believe in advanced data and analytics, we can also compare him to the QB he repalced who had the same scheme and weapons, and no suprise there, he blows him out of the water in every statistical measure. Now my 2 cents... What ppl fail to realize is that Brock has done all this in his FIRST season as a full-time starter. AND he did this behind the 22nd ranked O-Line. And it's only that high because Trent Williams is a alien @LT. You take out his grade and Brock had one of the worst pass-blocking O-Lines in all of football. AND let's also not forget, this was done coming off of a severe arm injury that most baseball players have a hard time recovering from. The injury wiped out his entire off-season so he didn't even have a chance to really improve upon his rookie campaign. His entire off-season was strictly rehabbing just to be ready for training camp in 2023. So riddle me this...if Brock actually has a chance to work on his craft, enhance his play, timing & correct his mistakes for an entire off-season, do you think there's not a chance for him to improve upon those numbers?? And what happens when he gets a chance to stack off-seasons on top of each other....what's he going to look like in his fourth year? Fifth year??
