ABOUT ME
I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZbin and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

Nice you can use something like that there, but my ground is hard as concrete most of the year and soggy in the rainy winter season. We have to use a tractor front attachment auger to drill ground for poles then concrete them in.
@thewhitesheepknight7571
@thewhitesheepknight7571 Жыл бұрын
find someone who has a auger on their postdriver and they will get through it in no time, otherwise even a rockspike will be fine so long as they dont get it stuck
@falconk9
@falconk9 Жыл бұрын
@thewhitesheepknight7571 we are on river Rock as well. Our front attachment auger can get into the ground, was a 3200 investment well worth it. The post hole auger we got with the tractor tore up the rear mounts because it didn't have enough downforce to get through the rock.
@thewhitesheepknight7571
@thewhitesheepknight7571 Жыл бұрын
@@falconk9 if the river rock is compacted enough then a rockspike might suit you better, problem is in that sort of ground the holes can just keep falling in, sometimes you might get away with spiking each hole 2-3 times. As a general rule in old river beds your best just battling away with an auger. Also not all augers are built the same, we run tungsten bullet teeth and a bead of tungsten welded to the flutes of our augers, and those will go through anything apart from volcanic rock which is where the rockspike comes in

Enjoyed this video Cammy, it may have been a wee bit different to what we normally see on the channel nut still enjoyable. 👍 Translation time: You may have heard Cammy say that he was going to 'Chap' on a number of occasions, this is just a Scots word that means just going to hit something (with a hammer or other implement). Like in proper English he would have said, I will just knock that in later. 😁 (Chapper = Knocker)

We booked a contractor with the same machine, he promised to be back in the Autumn. Autumn came and went, I think he chickened out when he saw the angle of the slope and didn’t like to admit it. Farm wife and husband in their 70s did it in the end. Quite proud of the job we did, as it did involve some hammer work with the wife fearing for her life while she held the posts straight. I think your contractor sounds very English.
