I think the producers gave us the diversity we wanted but, the heart of the show remained the same. Catherine was really the it girl of the first half of the show and that definitely wasnt expected. Catherine would've easily won if equality and fair treatment was present in the show.

The producers will ‘produce’ their job is to stir emotions and create a ‘story’ ultimately its down to the viewer to remain consistent in supporting their fave and give them the grace they afford everyone else! The black audience is so easily manipulated it’s crazy. There’s a reason why Sammy & Jess won the show. Fiat500 don’t have to ‘like’ their faves to vote for them. They vote for ‘their’ greater good

Finally finished listening and this was such an amazing and eye opening interview. For me, it explains a lot of why what happened happened and why many of the islanders that have come out have even said they were shocked by the edit and hate she got and had her back. I personally always felt like there was a lot of context missing as certain things weren’t making sense, especially rewatching certain scenes again, so I’m glad that you guys gave her an opportunity and a safe space on your platform to share her experience. It also had me a little emotional at points, especially hearing about her panic attacks and her not eating after coming out, her receiving death threats and how the trolls would even use her family to get to her. It’s fucked up to hear and regardless of how anyone felt, the hate and dog piling this girl got was 1000% wrong and it shouldn’t have been taken that far over an edited show. You ladies did a phenomenal job and it’s been a pleasure to see how much you champion for black contestants, especially darker skinned black women, as our experiences are typically more unique. Personally I would hope Catherine just prioritizes herself and her well-being, but it’s nice to see her in good spirits and I am confident she will do very well for herself. @@figuringitoutttt Nah I completely hear you. I was neutral, yet pretty fair with Scott as I really liked him and Cat together. Can’t comment on IG follows, but I just never bought the victim/golden boy narrative the public wanted to assign him to. And I gotta be real, when context was added to the situation, I realized earlier on that he definitely wasn’t blameless in this entire thing, and even he owns up to this. I see how he definitely had a hand in why things happened the way it did. It is annoying seeing people continue to put this all on Cat instead of just listening to what she has to say, but I am also starting to see others finally catch on. The public put Scott on this weird, unrealistic pedestal as if he could do no wrong, overlooking certain things. To me after hearing these details and also seeing how the situation with Abi went down, he’s not this perfect guy that many have made him to be (and I never expected him to be as he’s still only 22). Idk if they’re for sure seeing each other or if they’re just friends but I support whatever Cat decides to do as she knows her situation better than any of us. I just pray for the best outcome for her and that she knows her worth 🙏🏾

@@figuringitoutttt so I actually wasn’t aware of his IG follows but personally that’s something I would’ve side-eyed… It’s interesting tho because I believe his ex was south Asian , his brother said his type was Asian women and women who looked like Gabby, and then his sister apparently said that Cat was his #1. With this show it’s beneficial when you’re open to all kinds of people, and while idk him nor what his mindset truly is like, Cat is extremely gorgeous, and to me they got on well from what was shown so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Black women, we're next level trash for what we did to Catherine. All it took was her slightly stepping out of line ONCE in 5 weeks for you all to throw her to the wolves. But everyone else (minus Whitney) could run around the house doing whatever they wanted all summer long and STILL had a higher chance of making it to the finals. You all said the backlash had nothing to do with Catherine being a black woman yet had zero energy for pale skinned bandit Sammy, who told the nation he was going to close things off with Jess (after weeks of basically saying she was unattractive and only getting back with her because the girl he actually wanted wasn't popular), kissed two girls, brought one of them back and then was gaslighting Jess when she didn't want to be in ANOTHER love triangle with him. He STILL won by the way. Light skinned bandit Tyrique almost got Ella dumped from the island with his recklessness, told her he misses the game, and still somehow avoided being in the bottom. Mind you, he was only 2% behind Whitney after everything he did. (That includes disrespecting Lochan and Whitney unprovoked.) You guys loved Tyrique and Ella for the same reasons you hated Shaq and Tanya. That had a lot to do with colourism, but you guys aren't ready for that conversation. The other pale skinned bandit, Mitchel, was a whole clown from start to finish and avoided the bottom 3 until week 7. Yet it's Catherine you all had energy for. Go away and stop lying. You held her to a higher standard because she is a black woman. Not because she 'needed to be held accountable'. The end.

Scott genuinely liked Catherine. Many were jealous because Scott was more mature than the other guys except for Lockham. He spent most time with Catherine regardless of coupling with her because he liked her. Even though he spoke to Leah, it was Catherine for him. He chose her to get to know and took up for her when she got upset when everyone was talking about her and Scott's relationship.

Love island is the most hostile environment to POC, anyone is brave to come on it due to public scrutiny of every aspect of their personhood, but especially for Black women to know you won’t get the support even in the villa going through the wild rollercoaster the producers set up. Catherine handled it with such grace and kept her head high, I can’t imagine how draining it must’ve been for her and Whitney. It’s a shame that the producers haven’t done the work, and it was awful to see that they never let it be more than 50% POC in the villa, I felt like Ruchee, Andre and Montell being dumped as well as our girl Catherine was producers messing with the results, there’s no transparency on the voting 🙄 Thank you to the beautiful hosts for the interview and cozy vibes ❤️

Really enjoyed hearing Cath's side of the story, anyone with sense knew that there was an edited narrative going on, with parts of the story untold. Loved this interview, Catherine is gorgeous and literally the sweetest. I hope she will learn to stop wearing being “chill” as a great quality though. Being so “chill” with guys is what leads to being in repeated situationships, I hope she learns better boundaries. I know it appears like the attractive thing when the girl is “chill” about things but Catherine needs to stand up for herself and be direct about what she wants. I was like her when I was in my early 20s so I get it but I want her to have guys around her who want a serious relationship, whether that’s Scott or someone else. She deserves to be no.1 to the guy she really wants. The bit about the boys advising her was very telling, they were game playing hard🙄they knew Catherine was the it girl from early along with producers, they were all in on it. Hearing that has really put me off watching LI again it’s just so insidious and nasty how they went about bringing her/Whitney down. Yh that chill thing is not really good because she could have been not chill with Scott and told him she didn't like his exploring everyone and wanted them to close off but she didn't and she expected that Scott will be chill like her when she brought elom back for exploring......chill is not always good with men they will walk all over you or her in Catherine case

Catherine was robbed and I think everyone’s favs.. we all know who they are minus Whitney were clearly hating on them from day 1. They saw Catherine as a threat and did everything in their power to isolate her and Scott and sow seeds of doubt. It also didn’t help that the black community that should’ve been riding for her and Whitney failed miserably. This interview was definitely a step in the right direction to help her rebuild her brand and I truly wish nothing but success for her. I also have a feeling that Jess wasn’t the one with the phone, we all know who it was 👀 and I don’t think it was Kady or Leah.. but hey I might be wrong 🤷🏾‍♀️

Black women have made scott famous . He is now in hollywood beverly hills. If he was with a white girl from the start he wouldnt be so big , and wouldve left much earlier. catherine presence and mammy stans is what made him which gets to me so much especially knowing what we know now through this interview

Great interview! Thanks for it being long enough to really talk! Man this dig into Cath about Scott is so needed! I’ve been so confused. I wast mad at Scott about the kiss and close off timing. Seeing others close off or possibly loosing the person you like makes you think. But his back and forth would muddy the waters. Did he ever tell her what he felt after returning? On the Zac responding hard to Cath and Whit I think it’s cause the other girls just took it and sugar coated when they had an issue with him. Molly wouldn’t push back or call him out on his stuff. That’s the reason I thought Whit said him picking Molly was the “easy” option. With that said I do not stand behind us black women are loud and unruly. All people should have respect and protect themselves. We should never want to overreact to be “that black girl”. Tv or not🤷🏽‍♀️ We can’t one moment say treat us the same then say we act differently.
