I have to say that I do like the of ending of the 2007 movie more than that of the musical. I didn't even realize it wasn't the ending of the musical because Inez winning just makes more sense. Little Inez winning the contest made her character and her mother's more important and actually made the Corny Collins show integrated. It's also a good change that the main character didn't win as Tracy doesn't even seem to care much about miss Teenage Hairspray so her winning doesn't do anything for her character arc. If anything seeing Inez win accomplishes her goal of getting to show to be integrated which winning THS doesn't really do.

@@mats460 I totally agree on both accounts. Inez winning is something bigger. Tracy already got on the show and even became famous; but Inez didnt even got the chance to audition because of her color so finally showing everyone she had what it takes and then winning seems like a bigger triumoh for the community that has been deprived. I also like the von Tussles' redemption. Like you said I ubderstand ehy the movie excluded it because it's unrealistic but I love how the theater play gives us the idea that these women are also subconciously tired of being stuck up all the time and just needs to let loose to be kinder. Ans the heroes made them realize that. It would have been satisfying to see them punished, but wouldnt it be better to see them get converted to allies? Besides they already had their comeuppance when Amber didnt win the pageant and Velma had to overcome her racism since she got a promotion.

I feel as though in the movie they showed a different side to where there's still racist people who aren't going to accept you and that not everything will be sunshine and rainbows. Yel Kempis right!!! Ladies choice is so much more entertaining than the sophomore hop where they dance the Madison, it’s lively it’s fun and it’s better music. And then Tracy winning doesn’t make much sense other than her wanting to go to college but, I remember I saw the movie before watching the stage production and when I found out Tracy win I was so disappointed. Ines winning felt satisfying and well deserved and gave a very firm foundation and reason for why the show should be integrated and it got her on the show which does more justice to her characters importance than just one off remark. They should’ve added that, it would’ve been so much better.

@@mee5780 we're talking about the black people getting killed by police. These facts are more relevant: In 2015 stats state that deaths for young balck men were 5 times higher than white men the same age. This isn't even including women statistics for that would be higher. Yes there is bad cops everywhere but the reasons why they're bad range from different areas, like corruption, abuse of power etc. And in America a lot of it is abuse of power but also racial prejudice. @@Stopthisrightnow560 I didn't say otherwise. I agree with both your statements. My point is that not every case of bad policing is racist. Otherwise we'd have to accept the same in other countries. Also...please go and google Jarrett Maupin (BLM activist) face police firearm training to see how he was able empathise with the police. I cry when I see the video of Walter Scott, George Floyd. These are horrific incidents. I also cry when I saw Tony Tempa, and when I read about Jeremy Mardis, Rhogena Nicholas, Kelly Thomas. Not every incident of bad policing is due to racism. Hairspray live is meant to be fun and a one time thing, where fans can see celebrities take part in a professional musical, if you wanted to see a better cast without the stars then the original broadway one is probably better for you, obviously they have to have some degree of talent there which I’m sure u can see, but this is obviously created for the intention of the celebrities fans

All of these musical live shows (grease live, hairspray live, etc) purposely to like showcase celebrities doing professional musicals. So while some of the casting might have not been perfect, they did what other live musicals do (packed star power).

I don’t know how accurate this is to the actual broadway production but the dialogue is so rocky. it feels like a bunch of one liners rather than a conversation or a flow of events. that being said, they sounded pretty great for singing this live, this is like the hardest song to maintain breath support for lol!
@evandangel8173

Actually the whole production was pretty accurate except for the fact that they removed the opening number from act II. In this number there were only like two lines changed. And yeah it is a heavy number. Even for the movie which was pre recorded, the cast called it "you can't stop to breathe".
