I did this show in 7th grade and it was my first musical. I’m a high school freshman now and I have so much nostalgia. I did Elf, 42nd street and Mary Poppins after that and now I’m doing Into the woods 🥲

@karinadarjuan54184 жыл бұрын
I love this show so much, and it’s got some VERY catchy music and beautiful costume design. But the moral is pretty nasty. Mr Toad is a self destructive and egotistical addict who doesn’t care who he hurts, and who refuses to change, and he shouldn’t be celebrated at all. Ratty is 100% justified in not wanting to put up with him.
@johnyesjustjohn4 жыл бұрын
If it helps, in the book he becomes “an altered Toad” and avoids self-praise and pays back everyone who helped him. Though in the Disney movie, he immediately becomes interested in airplanes next.
@meghantrimble61204 жыл бұрын
I agree! Near the end of the show, there was an opportunity for Toad to apologize for his behaviour and make amends, but it never happened. Instead everyone just accepted him because "a friend is still a friend". I want my kids to know that they are under no obligation to remain friends with someone if they don't want to. Especially someone as selfish, narcissistic and irresponsible as Toad! 😂
@gordonmcknight88774 жыл бұрын
Honestly! I loved his songs and portrayal, but I saw him as the villain the whole time. No redeeming qualities whatsoever! At least Ratty found a new, true friend in Mole through it all. Maybe that was really the point.
@TED_Frames4 жыл бұрын
It’s not so much that he doesn’t care who he hurts, it’s more that he’s unaware of how much destruction he causes because of his childish sense of fun and his ego.
@rickelvi4 жыл бұрын
Toad is just an annoying and arrogant aristocrat who doesn't care for anyone or anything besides himself and his obsessions. I hated him every second he was on screen. I legit thought the story would work better as a class warfare analogy with the foxes, weasels ans stoats taking Toad Hall. It felt so deserved when Toad was arrested, and not a bit satisfactory when they took Toad Hall back

I have a joke. Why are the hedgehogs complaining about speed? I know a hedgehog who doesn’t need a car in order to get somewhere in seconds *wink*wink*
@muzicalzrlife60243 жыл бұрын
If it helps to know, the song before this one is sung by the Hedgehog family as they are trying to cross a busy highway and nearly getting run over several times before giving up and heading back home. So they might be protesting against Toad driving so maniacally as for the safety of their family
