Grew up in rural Norfolk, England, where we'd hear nightingales singing at night. Now so far away, and long ago; this brings back memories of an idyllic childhood.

Back in the day we drove through the endess fields in the American midwest and heard meadowlarks way off the road in the fields *clearly* even though we were driving an old VW with the windows open and couldn't hear each other unless we shouted. Then recently someone, I think it was Leslie the Bird Nerd (great bird videos!) pointed out that birds have to work hard to belt out those bird songs. She said she had heard them start at 2AM with little warmup chirps so that by sunup they had their vocal cords up to strength and ready to belt out the bird songs all day, Thanks for all the hard work, birds! And thanks for the great audio too!

I live on the edge of the city and have plenty of vegetation around the house and open fields right outside the garden . One of these lovely creatures has chosen a spot in a big tree in the garden and has been serenading me night and day for the past week or so. When I go outside I always stop for a few minutes and listen with a big smile on my face . I feel truly privileged that she chose this particular place to do her magic.

Found this while looking for the Earl Nightingale Foundation. I have found that as l take my eyes off humans, become more intune with nature, the sunrise, sunset, sunshine in my window on cold mornings, changing colors of nature, there are a thousand different thing Our Creator gave us to enjoy. If we but stop look and listen 🎶 the world the way God created it still exists, the noisenness of the world has shut it out. I took mine back.

Wow. I did a quick search for birds that sing at night, listened to this for 1 minutes and could quickly confirm that it is a nightingale singing outside my flat. Accurate to the point where I could barely tell the difference between the video and what's going on outside my window! Thanks!

Lived a few months in an apartment on a hillside farm outside of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Opened our bedroom window in the middle of the night and heard a few of these claiming their territory in different parts of the valley. It was the first time I'd heard them. Prior to that I'd thought of the nightingale as almost a literary myth mentioned in poems and stories, rather than as a real bird I might hear someday. Listening to their beautiful calls across a moonlit valley, was a breathtaking experience. Suddenly their inclusion in literature made perfect sense. How many writers and poets had heard that night-time song?

So sorry Jim, but may I suggest ( doing this myself), change your diet, clean up the gunk staying inside you by drinking lots of water, green tea, homemade broths, vegetable soup. I started back before the December holidays and it's made a world of difference. I have almost entirely cut out great amounts of starches ( i have some but so little). I limit the bread, potato and pasta. I don't even eat pasta meals as that is heavy. I also eat a lot of fruit, raise my own greens and eat what I have growing including berries. i try for raw. Actually I started with Dr. Furhman's suggestions but deviate according to my own skill and preferences. But it does help to study and try BBOMBS. I too have disabilities but I'm doing a lot better, feel freer. Well I hope you get this content. I will pray for you.

I read that the Nightingale can make up to 1,000 different sounds. Even the Blackbird's song has only 300. Ten days ago, a Nightingale decided to sing from the tree about 3 feet from my bed. He is so loud! He leaves us at about 5am, and moves to other trees nearby. We are truly blessed, and will enjoy his unsurpassable solo chorus until he flies back home to Africa.

I played this on our patio and was fascinated at the response from our birdlife. One feels at peace and with nature when listening to this Nightingale singing its' little heart out. So very thankful.

TheSilentWatcher my heart is alight after hearing these Nightingales songs. They are like finding my lost love again; I had forgotten their song! I never knew who it was singing to me in the woods so melodiously and calm. Now I know many many years later it was the Nightingale ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you God for this found again song

"Nightingale, nightingale. High up in the tree. Nightingale nightingale, sing your song for me. Late at night I hear your song, haunting melody. How I wonder where you are so free. Nightingale, nightingale, high up in the tree. Nighttingale, nightingale. Sing your song, sing your song. Sing your song for me."

For sure this is an amazingly beautiful complex sound from a small bird. I must of heard this sometime although these sounds seem to become rarer especially in cities. Apart from Berkley Square of course. The best time is dawn to hear birdsong. It's a special moment.
