What I love about you is that, you are not a "bushcraft" channel. There is no "Look at me, I can light a fire!", or, "Here's a cool knot I think you need to know (which I can do better than all those other bushcrafters out there)." type of BS. You are exploring, and showing us the wonders of Australia, and enjoying it the best way you can. Nothing fancy, but skilled nonetheless. Cheers from Canada. That's the way to go, Mattzy. 'You've done it again!' for sure.

Thanks a lot mate! Lovely words. Haha I actually tried doing that very early on and realised almost immediately “This is not me” and decided to keep it as natural I could, which turns out, is the easiest way to be 😄 I’m glad you appreciate it and are enjoying the content mate! Amazing that you can explore Australia with me from all the way up in Canada. I love that. 🙏

you deserve so many more followers. I like the way you give history and information on the areas you hike. As well as the poetry and almost like a diary or journal entry narration over the video. Really nice video and editing work. I feel almost like I am watching an adventure episode on TV... Well Produced. Just enough talking but still some silence to appreciate the sounds of nature. Keep up the good work and the interesting places.

Great vid mate. Some killer shots there. I can't wait to do another trip to the snowies. With the quilt, I can't say I've ever used those straps. Also, I don't bother with the button around the neck. You'll notice that in the corners of the quilt, there's little pockets where you can put your hand to help wrap yourself up. Oh, and also regarding campfires in Kosciuszko, you are allowed to have a fire in the wilderness and back country areas. It's only in the more well visited areas along the road corridors that you have to use a designated fire ring. Look forward to your next vid mate.
@TheSillySwagman
@TheSillySwagman 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! Ahh ok, I hadn’t noticed the pockets, I’ll check that out, cheers for that. That is a damn shame about the campfire, I just checked the parks page again and they have that line in bold about remote camping and open fires. That should be more clear, especially if they’re using the term “remote camping”. Would have been worth a call to be fair. Glad you dropped that comment for next time haha 😂

I love the poetry and the journaling. Have you ever considered making the transition away from suburbia? 3 years ago I moved to the remote mountains of Northern California. A tiny town. I never looked back. 🙏

Thank you, mate. I certainly have, I hit the road a few weeks ago now and I’ll do some travelling while I film and will be keeping my eye out for a smaller town. I was just having this conversation yesterday about how I probably should have done it a long time ago. No time like the present though! I’m glad you hear you found a peaceful place mate, I’m sure I’m not far behind. 🙏

Just finished a trip through the same country. I was utterly dismayed at the damage the feral horses have done. The piles of manure are stallions marking their territory. There is nothing ‘romantic’ about these ferals. They are in the same class as rabbits, pigs, goats and deer. They don’t belong. Thank you for the vid. You captured beautifully much of the scenery I passed through. Stunning.

Hey man, late to the vid but I called the long plains ranger specifically about the campfire issue and they said it was fine as long as I did collect wood from above the tree line where the habitat was more sensitive
@TheSillySwagman

Hey mate, that’s great to know. I was speaking to Scotty after he watched the vid and he said fires are generally allowed, just not in places such as main range etc. Near the established roads and trails, which makes sense. Did you mean to say “did” collect wood from above the tree line? Thanks for the info Jack 🤙

@TheSillySwagman
@TheSillySwagman 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate! Unfortunately there’s no zoom on these lenses I own, bar the one I was filming the horses with (which is massive) so I’m unable to achieve a wider field of view where I’m filming back at myself. Believe me, I wish I could do it all with one lens but I just can’t afford to upgrade at the moment. I do have a cheaper wide angle lens but the quality isn’t there and as soon as I’m in the shade it gets quite grainy, so I stopped taking that one out with me. But it’s definitely on my list down for the future. 🙏 And as for the slower panning, my lenses have pretty shitty stabilisation so it’s nearly impossible to get a smooth pan, that’s why it’s generally a still shot haha All in due time though!

Such a shame, the Brumbies are beautiful but cause so much damage in Australia. Nice video showing off the beauty of the area though.

Thanks for watching 🙏 Yeah, they’re not alone though. Plenty of other animals and introduced plant species playing their part and let’s not forget who put them there hey. 🤦‍♂️

I understand the devastation caused by any introduced species and the importance to remove them, but horses are so majestic aren't they. As a hunter I have no issues shooting a pig or rabbit or fox, but I just don't know if I could shoot a horse. But, they do cause a lot of damage to an eco system not meant for them. Beautiful scenery too.

Yep, absolutely. Nobody can deny the experience of seeing them in the wild, especially if you weren’t brought up around horses. I don’t think we need to be cold hearted in order to understand that any feral animal causes issues. No need for anyone to be mad at someone for enjoying the experience of seeing one running wild like this. Beautiful creatures.

The quality of this video is amazing mate! I would love to know what camera you are predominately using, is it the new GoPro you mentioned? Also, what microphone have you got equipped? Cheers

Hey mate! Thank you 🙏 It’s actually a Canon 200D. I switch between a few lenses (hoping to replace all three with one when I can afford it). A 24mm, 50mm and a 300mm. I didn’t use the GoPro here, I save that for the water etc. I’m using a Rode videomic pro.

Another fantastic video man thanks for sharing. Damn that morning looked cold. And a psa in the vic high country your only allowed to camp in a hut if it’s a emergency. Also wild horses have killed 1.3 million tourists in the last year so be careful and give them plenty of space. They are a majestic animal but also weigh 6 times more then you

You are totally correct about the horse have a warning system. This is not typical horse behaviour. Usually horses don,t have frets from predator because in their natural environment it is treeless, bushless savannah and they can see danger from a far off distant and if pressured just walk in the other direction. In their natural environment wolf don,t even predate on horses because they can out run most predators. But in the environment they are in, they are always on edge 24/4 due to wild dogs and closed in forests. it is very dentremenntal to their heath sortening their live span in half. To keep these animals in this environment is animal cruelty. They all should be remove to Savannah county or desert country. Those who want to horse to stay. are committing animal cruelty.
